2016 World Twenty20 Final Preview

2016 World Twenty20 Final Preview

The 2016 World Twenty20 has been dominated by upsets and there is not many experts that would have predicted that the final would be contested by England and the West Indies.

Outside of a very poor performance against Afghanistan, the West Indies have been flawless during this tournament, while England have recorded a number of impressive victories against the likes of South Africa and New Zealand.

The market can barely split the pair, but I have a clear opinion and there are a number of betting plays that I believe will be profitable in the 2016 World Twenty20 Final!

Head To Head Betting

The West Indies and England both opened at a $1.92 apiece, but there has been a tiny amount of money for the West Indies in the past 24 hours and they are now into $1.90.

If you forget about their inexplicable performance against Afghanistan, the West Indies have been outstanding with both bat and ball during the tournament to date and they could not have been more impressive against India.

England were ignored heading into this tournament, but they showed they were a genuine chance when they chased down over 230 to beat South Africa and they always looked as though they had New Zealand covered.

It is easy to see why the market is so close, but I believe that the West Indies side has more Twenty20 depth than their rivals and the likes of Chris Gayle can single-handily deliver their side victory.

When you add in the fact that the West Indies have won 9 of the 13 Twenty20 fixtures played between the two countries, it is clear that they are the team to beat and are great value at their current odds.

Recommended Bet: Back West Indies at $1.90

Man Of The Match

Joe Root and Chris Gayle have been two of the best players of the tournament and it is no surprise that they are on top of Man Of The Match betting markets from Alex Hales, Jason Roy and Jos Buttler.

While it is easy to see why both Root and Gayle have been supported, the player that stands out to me in this betting market is Andre Russell, who is currently priced at $13.

Russell is a confidence player and he will take a great deal of that out of his incredible performance with the bat against India, whole he is also capable of turning a match with his bowling.

Recommended Bets: Back Andre Russell to be named man of the match at $13

Top England Runscorer

Joe Root ($3.75) is a narrow favourite in this market from Jason Roy ($4.33), Alex Hales ($4.33) and James Vince ($5).

Root has obviously been the standout of the tournament to date, but Jason Roy has also been very impressive and he has a superior strike rate to Root during the tournament to date.

Recommended Bet: Back Jason Roy ($4.33) to be England’s top batsman

Top West Indies Runscorer

Chris Gayle ($3.50) is a clear favourite here from Johnson Charles ($4.50), Lendl Simmons ($5), Marlon Samuels ($5.50) and Evin Lewis ($5.50).

Gayle got all of his runs in this tournament in one game, so I am more than happy to oppose him and once again I am looking for value towards the bottom of the market.

Andrew Russell will need some luck because there will be others that get a crack before him, but if he gets an opportunity he will go close and I am happy to taje the gamble at $13.

Recommended Bet: Back Andre Russell ($13) to be West Indies’s top batsman.
