Apollo got the single date with Sophie in this episode and he was bloody adorable.
She took him on a 1950’s themed date, which seemed like a desperate attempt to make him seem older given he’s just a little kid.
Their 15 year age gap is clearly going to be an issue down the track unless Sophie is cool about embracing the cougar life.
So as much as this date was cute af, it was also slightly tragic given Apollo can’t do anything about his age, so I’m going to skim past it because it’s too depressing.
He got a rose and a pash, and so their doomed love story lives on.
Anyway, at the drama cabana the guys were all invited on a group date so they were up and about, but their cocky smiles faded quick smart.
Osher revealed four new guys would be entering the competition, and all four would actually be in Sophie’s age bracket. Hallelujah.
Of course, the OG’s didn’t take the news well, and the age gap was never more apparent.
“Spit on your hands boys, get ready to shake their hands,” one of them said. I don’t know who, they’re all idiots so it could have been anyone, but I’m assuming it was Sam or Blake.
A chopper brought in the reinforcements.
The first guy was Guy, a 37-year old optometrist who gave Sophie a pair of tacky sunglasses accompanied with an equally tacky one-liner.
“Hopefully they’ll take away some of the glare and help you see clearly who you want.”
Oh spew, yuck.
Guy thought his meeting with Sophie went really well. He channelled his best Jarrod by telling the other guys he’d formed a connection with her in that 30 second exchange.
“Guy’s already digging his own grave,” Jarrod said, in a perfect example of pot-kettle-black.
AJ the chef was next, and he’d prepared a menu for Sophie.
“That’s how you get me, food,” Sophie said.
Well played mate. Food is key. Bring some chicken nuggs and I’m in love.
He does have two kids though, which could go against him in the long run depending if she’s ok with the whole instant fam bam sitch.
Paul was unveiled next. Straight away I knew Paul wouldn’t make it.
Firstly, he has five kids and one grandkid.
I spilt my wine on my marinating spray tan upon hearing that news. Gee, he’s been busy.
Secondly, he’s a law ‘student’.
Does that mean he’s not in proper work? Who’s footing those law school bills? He’s 39 and doesn’t have his degree yet, all while supporting five kids. He seems like one gigantic handbrake. Mooch city.
Stu came out next and revealed he’d already met Sophie, which was a huge advantage.
He’s a 44-year old publican who ticks plenty of boxes, although he has kids as well.
He did say he’d have more, so expect old mate to go far.
Osher then informed the boys that four would be going home at the rose ceremony, and Jarrod rashed up. A red rash literally appeared and started climbing up his neck. He was raging.
They played polo on bikes and Jarrod took his anger out on the game.
“Jarrod was crazy, he was out of this world. He went full army mode.”
He collided with Blake and left Blake with blood streaming out of his mouth. He’s just so big and clumsy and competitive and not hot.
Blake milked it, pretended he had mild concussion and did an eye test, before he was instructed to stay on the sidelines and watch the game with Sophie, which wasn’t such a bad time for him.
At the cocktail party, Jarrod banded together with the other OG’s because suddenly they all had a common goal: to get rid of the old dudes. The only problem was they were all talk. They basically stood around glaring at them, saying “he’s got to go” over and over, without having a confrontation. This is where girls are good. They’ll just go and say it, and the resulting fight is epic TV.
Then it was time for the rose ceremony. While I knew it was big stakes with four guys about to go home, all I could focus on was the lipstick. Not on Sophie, but on the guys. What the hell was that? Guy had a coral number on and it was ridiculous. He wasn’t the only one. Jarrod kept puckering his lips so he had a dash of gloss on too. It was like they were modelling a new NARS range. Everyone had lipstick on.
Really odd stuff from the Network Ten make-up department.
Anyway, apparently while I was fixated on that and yelling at my housemate to come in and check out the lipstick, the rose ceremony was moving along quickly.
Jarrod sweated up big time because he was in the last six and on the cusp of being sent back to his winery where girls are out to use him for his wine.
He got a rose though, so that neck rash died down eventually.
Sophie paused for dramatic effect before handing out the last rose, running out for a quick pow-wow with Osher before coming back and saving AJ.
So that left Brett, Hayden, Harry and Paul without a rose and on their way. I knew Hayden would leave soon given a friend of mine matched with him on Bumble last week, so he’s on the prowl Melbourne, watch out.
Tomorrow night Jarrod smells his pot plant for wee so tune in.
