Tootz is an underrated filly that has started her racing career in impressive fashion and she goes into this contest on the back of a dominant three and a half lengths win at Port Macquarie. This is a step-up in class, but she is a filly that still has plenty of upside and she maps to get a lovely run in transit from the inside barrier.
Resonare has raced well without winning during his racing career to date and tomorrow is his chance to claim a maiden race victory. He has only been narrowly denied at his past few starts in weaker races than this one and jockey Jon Grisedale should be able to control this race. There is no doubt that he is the horse to beat.
Gayatri made her racing debut with a narrow victory at Newcastle and she looks as though she will be even better suited over the mile. She will get a lovely trail into this contest from the inside barrier draw and if she gets out at the right time she will prove very tough to hold out late.
Crackneck is a horse that still has plenty to learn, but he has an abundance of speed and a clear liking of the unique 900 metres course at Newcastle. He did plenty wrong at his last start, but he was still able to record an impressive victory and a repeat of that performance would make him very tough to beat this afternoon.
