Sergeant absolutely bolted in to record a maiden race win at Echuca last start and there is no doubt that he is a colt that has a fair amount of upside. He led from start to finish in that race and Damian Lane will be able to take him straight to the front in this contest. The Helmet colt will be very tough to catch and appeals at $5.
There is a fair bit of hype around Home Of The Brave and he can make a winning start to his time in Australia in the Aurie’s Star Handicap. His best form in Europe is more than good enough to win this contest and his two barrier trials in Australia have been nothing short of outstanding. Godolphin have already made a strong start to the new season and they can claim another feature race win with Home Of The Brave.
Night’s Watch was excellent during his maiden campaign in Australia and he got better the further that he got into his campaign. In saying that, he has recorded two wins from as many first-up starts and he has an excellent turn-of-foot. He maps to get a lovely run in transit with Damian Lane in the saddle and he can make a winning return to the races.
Fortensky is another horse that will return to the races this weekend and he has recorded three wins from his four first-up starts. He has produced some of the best form of his career to date over 1200 metres and I think that on his best form he is the class runner in this field. The $5 does seem well and truly over the odds.
