Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets
The Jets’ offense may have struggled last week in their loss to the Dolphins, but they did well to fight back from a 20-0 deficit to hold Miami scoreless in the second half. Growing pains from rookie quarterback Sam Darnold are to be expected, but the Jets still hold an impressive 5-1 head-to-head record on the road against the Browns. Bank on New York’s defence to get the job done today.
Richmond vs Collingwood
Third time’s the charm for the Pies? These two have clashed twice already this season, with Richmond coming out on top comfortably in the end. Those last two clashes were close come three quarter time, right before the Tigers upped their pressure and ran away with the game. So far Collingwood hasn’t found an answer to the likes of Jack Riewoldt and Toby Nankervis, and if the Pies fail to win the battle in the middle, it’s unlikely they book a spot in the Grand Final.
Melbourne Storm vs. Cronulla Sharks
How did the Sharks manage to knock off the Storm twice during the home/away season? Easy, plenty of physicality and pressure. We’re in for a fascinating battle at fullback between Billy Slater and Valentine Holmes, but the Sharks have the defensive prowess to pull this off. They won at AAMI Park only a month ago, forcing Melbourne into 11 errors. If they can spread the ball wide and rough the Storm up, be prepared for an upset.
