Snitty Kitty was excellent first-up in the Moir Stakes after being caught wide throughout. She maps to get a much softer run in this contest with Mark Zahra in the saddle and her record over this track and distance is outstanding. A repeat of her close second in the Oakleigh Plate would make her very tough to beat.
It is crazy that Jungle Cat is going around at double-figure odds in the Toorak Handicap. He made his Australian racing debut with an excellent win in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and he has now recorded four wins on the trot. The step-up to the mile is a query, but trainer Charlie Appleby is confident that he will run it out strongly.
This is a stellar edition of the Ladbrokes Stakes and there is no doubt that Benbatl is the x-factor in the race. He is not the most consistent horse in the world, but on his day he is definitely world class and his win in the Dubai Turf was outstanding. He has form around the likes of Enable and $6.50 is well and truly over the odds.
The Autumn Sun is a dominant favourite in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas. He was outstanding in the Golden Rose Stakes and the scary thing for his rivals is that he should prove even better over 1600 metres. James McDonald will have the option to settle him closer to the speed in the early stages of this contest and he simply has a turn-of-foot that can’t be matched by any other horse in this field.
