Hulme returned to the races with a close second at Ballarat and he should take good improvement from that performance. The step-up in trip to a mile suits and he maps to get a lovely run in transit with Jessica Eaton in the saddle. This is not the strongest race and he looks well-placed to return to winning form.
Haunted has recorded two wins from as many starts this campaign and he is a horse with a stack of ability. He showed an outstanding turn-of-foot to put away his rivals at Flemington last start and this contest this afternoon is no tougher. Damian Lane in the saddle is a positive and he can continue on his winning ways.
Sixties Groove returned to the races with a pleasing performance in the Gold Nugget at Ballarat and there is no doubt that he has been set for the Moe Cup second-up. He has recorded three wins from his four race starts over 2000 metres and he will get a lovely trail just behind the speed with Craig Williams in the saddle.
Peruggia has failed to fire in his two race starts this campaign and he is a much better horse than that form suggests. If he is able to return to anywhere close to his best form, he would prove tough to beat and at the current price of $8 I am willing to take the gamble that he turns up at the races this afternoon.
