Ta Chanson showed some ability without winning during his maiden racing campaign and Bjorn Baker has found a very winnable contest for him to return to the races in. His two barrier trials at Warwick Farm were good and he has the early speed to cross this field from the wide barrier draw. This is his chance to claim a maiden race win.
Maeve In Manhattan had no luck in running over this same track and distance last start, and was only narrowly denied. That was a much tougher race than this one and this is the weakest race she has contested in some time. She maps to get a lovely run in transit from barrier two and this is her chance to return to winning form.
Deangles was beaten as a short-priced favourite at Albany last start, but I am willing to give him another opportunity. The form coming out of that race has already been fairly strong and he has previously won over this track and distance. He has the benefit of Peter Hall in the saddle and he can return to winning form.
Fanciful Toff is well and truly over the odds at his current price of $8.50. There is no doubt that he will be better over further, but he was able to sprint fresh well during his maiden racing campaign and this is far from the strongest race. He does have tactical speed and Damian Lane can settle him close to the lead.
