Come On Carl has been racing in career best form this campaign and he was unlucky not to make it two wins on the trot when he was narrowly denied at Sale last start. He was caught wide in the early stages of that contest, but he maps to get a lovely run in transit in this contest and can return to winning form.
Grand Crown returned to the races with a fast-finishing second at Cranbourne last start and a repeat of that performance would make him very tough to beat in this contest. He can settle closer to the speed than he did last start and jockey Linda Meech is riding in simply outstanding form.
Illustrious Lad was not beaten far in either the Standish Handicap or the Chester Manifold Stakes and this contest is a genuine drop in class. He is a horse that generally does deliver when he is placed in an appropriate race like this one and he will get a lovely trail into this contest with regular hoop Anthony Darmanin in the saddle.
Mossbelle is a mare that doesn’t win out of turn, but she finds herself in a very winnable contest this afternoon. She has raced well without winning at Sale in the past and a repeat of her last start effort would make her very tough to beat in this contest. This is her chance to return to winning form.
