Deroche recorded her maiden race win in dominant fashion at Launceston two starts ago and she was only narrowly denied by Mystical Pursuit in the Gold Sovereign Stakes last start. That does look like the right form reference for the Magic Millions Classic and a repeat of that effort would make her very tough to beat.
Mandela Effect returned to the races with a narrow win in the Kevin Sharkie Handicap and he has now recorded six wins from his 12 career starts. He still has the upside to improve on that performance and, on exposed form, he does have a genuine edge over the rest of this field. There is no reason that he can’t make it three wins on the trot.
This is an excellent edition of the Tasmanian Oaks and there are a stack of winning chances. No horse goes into this race fitter than Glass Warrior and that could prove to be the difference. She won the Launceston Guineas in nothing short of dominant fashion and she was not disgraced in the Tasmanian Derby a fortnight ago.
Kwai is a consistent galloper that very rarely runs a poor race and she has missed the placings in only one of her past five race starts. She wasn’t beaten far by Lady Pluck at Hobart last start and there is no horse of that quality in this field. She maps to get a lovely run in transit and is well-placed to return to winning form.
