NRL Round 8 Betting Review
With six of the eight favourites getting the win in round eight, punters had multiple pals this weekend but the ones who delivered the biggest returns were South Sydney, North Queensland and the Roosters.
The money had come all week for Bennett’s Bunnies to get one over the Broncos and it proved a perfect start to the weekend for many who then rolled that in the Cowboys and Chooks.
The margin in the Roosters v Tigers game was not a surprise given how well the 13+ margin market was in the lead-up.
For the second week in succession it was the Storm who helped the bookies out.
While money did come late for Cronulla, the Storm had been hugely popular all week and, by losing their second game of the season, allowed the traders to claw one back.
The Knights upset over the Warriors also proved a good result for the house.
FIRST TRY FILL-UP
Eat, sleep, back Latrell Mitchell first try, repeat.
For the third week in succession, the big Rooster proved a strip for the bookies. Having crossed first at $10 and $13 respectively in the past two games, punters tripled down and he did it again.
This week at $7.
Cody Walker was again a popular first try selection at $15 but for one punter, he was a genuine fill up when he crossed for both the first and second of the game. His first try exacta bet of Walker to score the opening two tries at odds of 200-1 saw him collect $5025 for his $25 investment. Not a bad way to kick off the punting weekend.
BACKING THE FUTURE
