PUNTER’S PAL

Punters came for Manly in the 24 hours prior to kick off, to the point the Sea Eagles went from 3.5-point outsiders against the Cowboys, to jumping favourite. And the money clearly didn’t miss.

Manly, Cronulla, and to cap the weekend off, St George Illawarra, were the three best-backed teams of the weekend, helping astute punters fill their boots.

BOOKIE’S BEST

The first game of the round was a big result for the bookies, as the Knights made it six wins in succession despite the absence of Kalyn Ponga.

The Panthers consigning the Roosters to a third successive defeat was also a good result for Ladbrokes, but the biggest bookie win of the weekend came in the form of the Titans victory over the Broncos.

FIRST TRY FILL-UP

It was a 50/50 split for bookies and punters in terms of the first try betting at the weekend. The four which filled the accounts of punters were:

Bailey Simonsson (Raiders) $10

Hymel Hunt (Knights) $23

Bronson Xerri (Sharks) $10

Villiame Kikau (Panthers) $23.

MULTI MAGIC

With surprising confidence, one punter plonked $5075 on the same game multi consisting of just the two legs. Gold Coast Titans to win 1st half into Titans over 2.5 tries.

At odds of $3.70, his wager returned $18,777.50.

BACKING THE FUTURE

Losses to the top two in premiership betting did relatively little to their price, but we saw some significant moves below that, with the Sharks and the red-hot Knights trimming up considerably.
