Wells is the horse to beat in the 2019 edition of the Crisp Steeplechase. He returned to winning form with a typically tough effort in the Mosstrooper Steeplechase and he should now be at peak fitness. The big weight won’t be an issue for him.
Knock Knock looks to have some serious talent. He absolutely savaged the line to win on debut at Bendigo on July 14th and he ran the fastest closing 1000 metres, 800 metres, 600 metres and 400 metres of the day. The small field means that he can sit fairly handy and finish over the top of his rivals late.
Killarney Kid failed to finish the race when Gobstopper won the Brendan Dreschsler Hurdle at Pakenham last start, but I am willing to give him another chance. His win before that in the Kevin Lafferty Hurdle was excellent and he has run well at Ladbrokes Park in the past.
Groundbreak failed the line strongly to just miss the placings at Caulfield last start and this is a genuine drop in quality. He should now beat at peak fitness third-up and he doesn’t have to get as far back as he did last start. I think that he could end up in better races than this one.
