Why Big Bry has raced well without winning during his racing career to date and this does look like the ideal target for him. He produced a tough effort on the speed at Pakenham last start and the form coming out of that race has been strong. Michael Walker can settle him right on the speed and he will prove tough to run down.
Cracksman will need some luck in running from the wide barrier draw, but I still think that he has the class to win this contest. He found the line nicely at Geelong first-up and he should take good improvement from that performance. I don’t think this race is any tougher and he will have an excellent chance to return to winning form.
Hurricane Fighter’s first-up effort at Bendigo was too bad to be true and I am happy to put the pen through that performance. His best form last preparation does give him a clear class edge over the rest of this field and he maps to get a lovely run in transit with James Winks in the saddle. This is his chance to return to winning form.
Free Thoughts has been sent to Victoria after starting her racing career in Western Australia. She showed an excellent turn-of-foot to win at Northam last start and I think that she has more upside than the rest of this field. $13 is over the odds in what is a very open race.
