The Valley - Race 2 7:00pm AEDT

No. 7 Category Five

Category Five has an excellent chance to record a maiden race win at The Valley tonight. He had excuses when he was beaten at Warrnambool last start and he deserves another opportunity in this contest. John Allen can ride him aggressively from the wide barrier draw and he should be able to find the front fairly comfortably.

The Valley - Race 3 7:30pm AEDT

No. 7 Leale

Leale is absolutely flying this preparation and she can make it three wins on the trot at The Valley this evening. She has led from start to finish to win both her past two race starts and the Valley does look like an excellent track for her. Thomas Stockdale will take her straight to the front in the early stages of the race and give her rivals something to catch.

The Valley - Race 6 9:00pm AEDT

No. 1 Yogi

Yogi is excellent value to win the Torney Night Cup at his current price at $6.50. He made up good ground against the pattern of the race at Caulfield first-up and the step-up to 2500 metres is ideal for him. This should turn into a genuine staying contest and he can outstay his rivals in the concluding stages of this race.

The Valley - Race 8 10:00pm AEDT

No. 9 Mellors

Mellors isn’t the most consistent horse in the world, but he is capable of a high-rating effort on his day and this looks like a nice race for him. His record over a mile is excellent and he maps to get a lovely run in transit with Luke Nolen in the saddle. The $10 currently available is well and truly over the odds.
