Launceston - Race 5 3:22pm AEDT

No. 3 Galenus

Galenus has form around a number of talent gallopers, including Deroche and Still A Star, and he is well-placed to make a winning return to the races. His barrier trial ahead of his racing return was excellent and on his best form he does look to have a genuine class edge over the rest of this field. Barrier six is ideal and he will have every possible chance in the run.

No. 2 Mandela Effect

Mandela Effect is worthy of his status as a dominant favourite in Mowbray Stakes betting. It has been a long time since he produced a poor performance and he beat a similar field to this to win the Thomas Lyons on Hobart Cup. The wide barrier draw should ensure that Craig Newitt will be able to keep him out of trouble and he should prove too classy for his rivals late.

Launceston - Race 8 5:13pm AEDT

No. 2 Taikomochi

Toorak Affair beat Taikomochi in the Ladbrokes Hobart Cup, but I am confident that the Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper can turn-the-tables in the Ladbrokes Launceston Cup. He had to fight for the lead in the early stages of the Hobart Cup and he should get a softer run in the Launceston Cup. He is a tough stayer on his day and he will prove tough to run down.

Launceston - Race 9 5:53pm AEDT

No. 4 Shot Of Irish

Scott Brunton has found a lovely race for Shot Of Irish and he is very well-placed to make a winning return to the races. He strung together a number of impressive performances in Victoria last start and this is a genuine drop in quality. His first-up record is outstanding and on his best form he has a huge edge over the rest of this field.
