The Valley - Race 4 8:00pm AEDT

No. 5 Sunday Pray

Sunday Pray doesn’t win out of turn, but this does look like a nice race for him. He was only narrowly denied at The Valley a couple of starts ago and there was plenty of merit his last start effort at Flemington. Teodore Nugent will be able to settle him right on the speed and he may never have a better chance to return to winning form.

No. 8 Excess Funds

Excess Funds is the horse to beat in the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge. He wasn’t disgraced at black-type level during the Spring Racing Carnival and he was very impressive when he returned to the races at Flemington. This race really isn’t much tougher and the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge is the perfect contest for him.

The Valley - Race 7 9:30pm AEDT

No. 2 Dark Pearl

Dark Pearl has been sent to Melbourne after racing well in Sydney this campaign. This looks like a lovely race for him. He chased home the talented She’s Ideel at Royal Randwick last start and there is no horse of that quality in this field. Damian Lane will have options from barrier five and he should have every possible chance in the run.

The Valley - Race 8 10:00pm AEDT

No. 10 She’s A Karaka

She’s A Karaka is a filly with plenty of upside. She did plenty wrong at Kyneton last start, but she was still able to put away her rivals in impressive fashion. The step-up to 2040 metres is ideal for her and she maps to get the run of the race with John Allen in the saddle. She can make it two victories on the trot.
