The Listed Beaufine Stakes is the feature race on another exciting nine-race program at Belmont on Saturday.
Belmont has been the scene of most of Perth’s recent metropolitan meets and subsequently, the rail will be set our seven metres around the entire course this weekend.

Race 1 - 2:02pm
Peninsula Dining Room Plate (1000m)
Born To Rule is yet to turn in a poor effort and can record another win at Belmont on Saturday.
The Universal Ruler filly filled the minors on debut here in late May, winning second-up beforte finishing a close-up second here last time out.
Fitter fourth-up, she just needs luck from out wide to fight out the finish.

Race 2 - 2:42pm
Free Entry To Belmont Park Handicap (1200m)
The record currently reads one start for one win for Secret Statue and he can keep alive his unbeaten run of form at Belmont.
The Grant & Alana Williams-trained gelding showed promise at the trials prior to his debut and franked that ability with a lovely win at Pinjarra.
This is a rise in class, but it’s the next logical step.

Race 3 - 3:22pm
Westspeed Platinum Handicap (1600m)
Aberdeen Queen has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence and looks the one to beat in the third on Beaufine Stakes Day.
The Lindsay Smith-trained filly has so-far recorded four wins from her six career starts and bounced back into the winner’s stall with a dominant performance here at Belmont a couple of weeks ago, that saw her finish close to four lengths ahead of the second placegetter.
She’s rock-hard fit and can win again.

Race 4 - 3:58pm
Swan River Vase (2200m)
Material Man stormed back into the winner’s stall in the Group 3 Strickland Stakes a fortnight ago and can make it two in a row when he steps out in the Swan River Vase.
The veteran galloper wasn’t given much hope in the stacked field last time, but he turned back the clock with an eye-catching performance, beating home the likes of Perfect Jewel and The Velvet King.
There’s nothing of that quality in this field and the rise in trip will suit, but he’s too short for me at $1.40.
Race 5 - 4:39pm
Glenroy Chaff Handicap (1200m)
Windstorm is an above average galloper and will take a power of beating in the fifth on Beaufine Stakes Day.
The Redoute’s Choice gelding has so far recorded four wins and a close-up second placing from his five career starts, and is seeking a hat-trick on Saturday following dominant wins over the 1300m course here.
He probably wins again, but he is also far too short for me ($1.30).
Race 6 - 5:15pm
Amelia Park Handicap (1400m)
Inspirational Girl hasn’t been seen at the races since February, but she too has recorded four wins and a second placing from her five career starts and should be madding a winning return.
The Reliable Man mare beat some good horses home during her Summer preparation and has had the benefit of a couple of trials leading into this.

Belmont Park Book A Bay Handicap (2000m)
This looms as an intriguing contest between Roman Flirt and Sentimental Gift, but I am happy to follow the former.
Roman Flirt has been up and racing for a while, but her form this time could hardly have been more impressive and she recorded four-consecutive wins before filling the minors behind a couple of smart ones last time out.
She’ll need some luck from out wide, but William Pike jumps back into the saddle and that could prove the difference.

Race 8 - 6:20pm
Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m)
Essential Spice doesn’t know how to run a bad race and the Beaufine Stakes looks a perfect target for her.
The four-year-old daughter of Gingerbread Man hasn’t missed a place at her last seven appearances, spanning three preparations and more than a year, and there was a lot to like about the way she hit the line to finish second behind Flow here a fortnight ago.
With the improvement from that effort, from the good draw and with Pike aboard, she’ll take a power of beating in this.

Race 9 - 6:55pm
Crown Perth Handicap (1200m)
Devoted Star looks a winning chance in the final race on the program.
The Al Maher mare probably didn’t come up last time in and was returned to the paddock after just two starts, but put the writing on the wall with an easy win here at Belmont when resuming this time.
She has a low draw and can make it two in a row.
