The new season gets underway at The Valley on Saturday and nine exciting races will be contested.
The rail will remain in the true position around the entire course and at publish, the track is rated in the soft range.
Victoria Star has been a model of consistency this time and can win again at The Valley on Saturday.
The Greg Eurell-trained gelding resumed for a lovely win in BM84 company at Cranbourne and has since filled the minors in races at Caulfield and Flemington, including the Listed Winter Championship Final last time out.
He looks to be at peak fitness for this contest and will relish the drop in class.
5 Units Victoria Star
Tanker hasn’t been seen at the races since February, but is a classy horse and can make a winning return in the second at The Valley on Saturday.
The Pride Of Dubai gelding stamped himself as a horse to follow when he won the Listed Debutant Stakes on debut, and while he failed to make much of an impact in three autumn starts, he stepped out in far tougher races than this one.
2 Units Tanker
Miss Bosetti has found form around some good horses and looks the one to beat in Race 3.
The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained filly recorded a lovely win at Mornington three back and has raced well as the bar has been lifted; finishing a length and a half behind Parlophone at Ladbrokes Park two back and filling the minors behind the exciting Hydro Star most recently.
She looks to be at peak condition for this race and she is drawn to receive a lovely run from barrier 5.
4 Units Miss Bosetti
Brooklyn Hustle hasn’t been seen at the races since November, but she has a class edge over the lion’s share of these rivals and is up to winning.
The Starspangledbanner filly has stepped out in good races throughout her short career so far and was sent to the paddock after finishing fifth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Her only run at The Valley so far was a dominant win over the likes of Yes Yes Yes, and she has won fresh previously.
3 Units Brooklyn Hustle
This looms as one of the more open contests on Saturday’s card at The Valley, and a horse like West Wind has claims at an each-way price.
The Pins mare returned several pleasing efforts last time in, including consecutive wins in country company before ending her campaign fifth behind Nudge on Oaks Day.
She’s improved for two starts this time, which included an eye-catching third behind Firstclass Dreamer at Sale last time out.
Fitter third-up, she should have conditions to suit.
1 Unit E/W West Wind
Titan Blinders races well fresh and strikes a winnable contest at The Valley on Saturday.
The Team Corstens-trained gelding didn’t miss a place in four starts last time, winning at Ballarat fresh and finishing second behind King Of Hastings at Flemington most notably.
With even luck, he is certainly up to winning something of this quality.
2 Units Titan Blinders
Former Kiwi Polly Grey has returned a couple of lovely efforts at her last two starts, and this looks a very winnable race for her.
She needed the run when four lengths off the pace of Great Duchess on debut in Australia, but beat home some classy horses when second behind Sricconi at Flemington two back.
She was just a length and a half from the winner over 2000m at HQ last time out, and she looks to be a horse that will relish racing at The Valley.
2 Units Polly Grey
Think We’re Due might need some luck from barrier 13, but he has been racing well this preparation and looms as a live chance of winning the penultimate race, at a lovely price.
The Andrew Noblett-trained gelding recorded consecutive wins here at The Valley and at Cranbourne, before filling the minors in the Gold Heath at Caulfield two back.
He was last seen finishing fourth behind Shot Of Irish at Caulfield and has been freshened for this contest.
1 Unit E/W Think We’re Due
Hypersonic puts an unbeaten record on the line in the last at The Valley and can continue his rise through the grades.
The Brazen Beau gelding broke his maiden with ease at Murray Bridge on debut and arrived in town for another dominant win on the Parks course at Morphettville.
He’s an emergency runner for this race, so does need a couple to be scratched, but I am happy to pull stumps at Race 8 if that doesn’t happen.
