Tobin Bronze is one of the outsiders in our Greatest Ever Cox Plate market and he is currently available at odds of $21.
While Tobin Bronze doesn’t have the same name recognition as some of the other superstars in this field, the Arctic Explorer entire should not be underestimated in this race.
Can Tobin Bronze defy our market and stamp himself as the best of the best?

Cox Plate Wins
1966 Cox Plate
Tobin Bronze was beaten in the 1966 edition of the Caulfield Cup as a short-priced favourite, with Bart Cummings-trained Galilee besting him once again, but there would be no denying Tobin Bronze in the Cox Plate.
He was once again sent around as an odds-on favourite and recorded a very comfortable win over Winfreux and Light Fingers.
1967 Cox Plate
Tobin Bronze was able to go to another level in 1967 and it was an emotional occasion when he returned to The Valley 12 months after his first Cox Plate triumph.
It was announced during the 1967 Spring Racing Carnival that Tobin Bronze would be sent to the United States after his run in the Cox Plate and punters flooded to The Valley to get one last look at the champ.
After scoring a tough win in the Caulfield Cup, Tobin Bronze went into the Cox Plate as a 1-6 favourite and he was able to canter home for a fairytale victory!

The Resident Rainman Says:
Tobin Bronze is often forgotten when the greatest horses in the history of Australian racing are listed and his place in this field has been questioned by some punters.
Those punters are wrong.
Tobin Bronze was nothing short of dominant in 1967 and he won just about every major race on the Australian calendar.
He may not have the out and out class of some of the horses in the Ladbrokes Greatest Ever Cox Plate field, but Tobin Bronze should not be underestimated.
