Randwick-Kensington Preview – Wednesday 3rd February

Randwick-Kensington Preview – Wednesday 3rd February

Seven races will be contested on the Kensington course at Randwick on Wednesday, February 3rd.

The rail will be set out three metres around the entire course and at publish, the track is rated in the Heavy (8) range.

Maiden Plate (1100m) - Race 1 2:20pm AEDT

Fox Figther returned a nice effort on debut at Kembla Grange and I am happy to have something small on his each-way at this price ($19 at publish).

Fox Fighter showed ability at the races prior to making his debut and ran home well to finish half a length second at Kembla Grange just over a week ago.

With natural improvement, I think that he can be in the finish.

Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1400m) - Race 2 2:55pm AEDT

Nearly Fine has returned two nice efforts back this prep and is ready to win at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

The Exosphee gelding is yet to record a race win, but he is also yet to return a poor effort, and has finished second four times and third once, in just six appearances.

He only just missed at Wyong last time out and at around the $8 mark, we can have an each-way play.

Bowermans Commercial Furniture Plate (1100m) - Race 3 3:30pm AEDT

There’s barely any form to divulge ahead of Race 3 and at publish, the debutante Skedaddle is a firm $2.20 race favourite.

I am happy to stay out of this race, with a view towards something later in the season.

Stud & Stable Staff Awards Handicap (1550m) - Race 4 4:05pm AEDT

This looks a nice race for Joliette, and she will take plenty of beating.

Joliette he been a reasonably consistent performer throughout her preparation, and she filled the minors behind Strange Charm two back before a luckless effort behind More Prophets at Warwick Farm on Australia Day.

James McDonald retains the ride, the rise in trip looks ideal and she is drawn to receive a lovely run.

Davali Thoroughbreds Handicap (1800m) - Race 5 4:40pm AEDT

Laila De Vega has returned several lovely efforts this prep and strikes a winnable race at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

The five-year-old daughter of Lope De Vega doesn’t win out of turn, but she also rarely races poorly, and she was last seen finishing second behind Pitchfork in BM72 company at Canterbury.

She races well with the sting out of the track and is up to winning something like this.

Shooting To Win @ Darley Handicap (1000m) - Race 6 5:15pm AEDT

Mossman Gorge looks well placed to record a win at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

The Mossman gelding has been a good horse for the Matt Dale stable throughout his career, and won at this track and distance in December most notably this prep.

He was only just nodded out late at Canterbury last time out and with even luck, he can fight out the finish again.

Vinery Stud Handicap (1400m) - Race 7 5:50pm AEDT

This is a rise in class for Flexible, but she can record another win.

The Godolphin-trained filly finished midfield here on debut and can continue to improve noticeably in each of her two subsequent starts, culminating in a dominant win at Warwick Farm last time.

She gets into this well under the conditions and can win again.
