Darwin - Race 1 11:40am AEST

No. 7 Captain Bridges

Captain Bridges has only recorded one race win from his nine race starts, but I am confident that he is a better horse than that record suggests.

He has finished in the placings in all three of his race starts over this trip and he does have form around some talented gallopers.

I am happy to take on Wild Rover and that leaves Captain Bridges as the value runner in an open race.

Darwin - Race 6 2:42pm AEST

No. 6 Moscow Mule

Moscow Mule has shown good ability during his racing career to date and he has an excellent chance to score another race win.

He wasn’t at his best last start, but his form before that had been strong.

Barrier two is perfect for him and he should get every possible chance in the run.

Darwin - Race 7 3:22pm AEST

No. 2 Budget King

Budget King is the first emergency for the Darwin Cup and would have been a genuine chance in that contest.

I’m glad that he hasn’t scored a place in the Darwin Cup field as he is left as clearly the horse to beat in this field.

The King Cugat gelding has a clear class edge over the rest of his rivals and I am surprised that he is not a dominant favourite.

Darwin - Race 11 6:00pm AEST

No. 9 Casino Seventeen

This is a very open edition of the Darwin Cup and you can make a case for a number of different runners.

Casino Seventeen hasn’t had much luck this campaign, but he has been racing extremely well and this could be the right contest for him.

He finished second behind Cherry Tortoni in the Adelaide Guineas and he has since go on to finish in the placings in the Darwin Guineas and NT Derby Stakes.

The Casino Prince gelding keeps improving and he might be ready to peak in the Darwin Cup.
