Geelong - Race 5 2:45pm AEDT

No. 4 River Twain

River Twain is well-placed to make a winning return to the races at Geelong this afternoon.

The Headwater gelding has won first-up in the past, he has scored two wins from as many starts at Geelong and 1200 metres is his pet distance.

He is the class horse in this field and with even luck in running he will prove very tough to beat.

No. 4 Character

This is a very open edition of the Geelong Classic and you can make a case for a number of different runners, but Character does have a nice profile for the race.

The form coming out of his maiden race win at Cranbourne was full of quality and he found the line fairly in the Super Impose Stakes at Flemington.

The step-up in trip looks as though it will suit and he maps to get a lovely run in transit with Fred Kersley in the saddle.

Geelong - Race 7 4:00pm AEDT

No. 8 Tralee Rose

Tralee Rose has been building towards a race win this campaign and she is deserving of her status as a clear favourite in the Geelong Cup.

She has finished in the placings in the Heatherlie Stakes, MRC Foundation Cup and The Bart Cummings and the form coming out of those races has been strong.

The Tavistock mare is the fittest horse in this field and she can outstay her rivals late.

No. 3 How Womantic

How Womantic has an excellent chance to return to winning form in the Black Pearl.

She returned to the races with a good effort at Ladbrokes Park Sandown and she should take good improvement from that performance.

Jye McNeil can settle her closer to the speed in the early stages of this contest and her class can prevail in the concluding stages of the race.
