Thursday mission for LRC hounds

Despite Barbeque Man being the lone winner for our greyhounds across the weekend, he certainly did it in style! He recorded a new PB of 29.68 on his way to an impressive victory at Cannington on Saturday evening. We are looking forward to seeing him progress throughout the year!

Our attention now turns to Thursday night across two different venues. Littermates, Zipping Remus and Zipping Rousey are set to contest separate heats of the Group 3 Flying Amy Classic at Albion Park. Remus returned to winning form last night and will take beating once again with a repeat dose, whilst Rousey will need the right breaks from an awkward draw in what looks to be her toughest test yet. The John Finn-trained pair won’t be the only two LRC greyhounds lining up, as it’s expected that the Jedda Cutlack-trained Amendola will line up in a heat of the Group 3 Carnival Chase. He will no doubt need to raise the bar once again, but he is hard to ignore after his gutsy last start victory. It’s certainly exciting to have three runners in feature heats!

Scofflaw is our lone runner heading to Sandown Park this Thursday, and despite not featuring in the finish at his most recent outing, he certainly finds a suitable race to bounce back. He needs even luck from the draw, but if he finds clear room, he will take beating. Let’s hope he finds the form of his win two runs ago!

No joy for Great Barrier Reef

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be for Great Barrier Reef last Saturday at Randwick. He began well from the gates but found himself three-wide throughout. Despite not having much luck in the run, he was still below his best over the concluding stages.

Chris Waller and his team have run their eyes over him since Saturday’s race and haven’t been able to pinpoint anything, so the plan is to press on to his next start. There are several options for him in the coming weeks, but it is likely that his next assignment will be on June 12 at Warwick Farm. Chris may even look at tinkering his gear in trackwork, before making a final call on any changes leading into his next run.
