Dual attack on feature finals

Zipping Remus and Barbeque Man continue to progress rapidly! Both chasers won impressively last week and now have their sights set on feature finals this week, on opposite sides of the country.

Zipping Remus recorded a 3.75L victory at Albion Park last week in a heat of the Group 2 Flying Amy Classic and will now contend Thursday’s final from box four. A terrific field has gathered for this year’s edition, and this is no doubt his hardest task yet, but he is hard to knock on his most recent efforts. Good luck Remus! Congratulations to those LRC members who entered the ballot and will now enjoy an ‘inside the ropes’ experience at Albion Park!

Barbeque Man made it three on the bounce with an assertive victory at Cannington on Saturday night, running a time of 29.76secs, and beating star chaser Elite Machine in the process. This win has qualified him for this weekend’s Winter Cup final at Cannington, where he has drawn awkwardly in box seven. He will need the right breaks from the draw, but he is in tremendous form and will hopefully get his chance to add to his ever-growing tally!

Despite Zipping Remus and Barbeque Man being the headline acts this week, there are several of other LRC greyhounds set to line up across the country. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for all pre-race information and exclusive promotions!

Rosemont release

It’s finally here! Dreamsicle, a half-sister to Yankee Rose, was our first new addition to the LRC family, but it’s now time to release the next five gallopers in partnership with Rosemont Stud.

Joining Dreamsicle in Peter Moody’s yard is Wynwood, a two-year-old by Starspangledbanner. A further addition to our Victorian stable is Selbst, who will be joining Everest-winning trainer Clayton Douglas. The speedy Everly has already had a barrier trial under the care of Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea and at this stage, will be the sole flagbearer in South Australia.

Now this is where the fun starts… we will also be introducing two unnamed horses to the stable! That means you’ll get the chance to suggest a name! A Shamus Award x Newstar Lass colt will be joining star siblings Ben & JD Hayes and will round out the strong Victorian clan. Our final addition is heading to the sunshine state! A Tarzino x First Bloom colt is on his way to join Tony Gollan at his Eagle Farm base.

Make sure you head to the Ladbrokes Racing Club platform to check out each of our new addition’s profiles! Stay tuned for details about our naming process!

Great Barrier Reef update

Great Barrier Reef has worked well over the past week, in particular on Tuesday morning, where he worked in company over 1000m. He pleased his rider and continues to do everything right, so he is hard to fault. He was nominated for a race this Saturday, but the preference is to wait until next Monday, June 12 at Warwick Farm.

Final fields for this meeting are yet to be released so make sure you keep an eye out for pre-race information once a decision has been made. We will be opening a ballot for a Great Barrier Reef race day experience which you won’t want to miss… Stay tuned for more details!
