Midweek metropolitan Queensland racing returns to Doomben this Wednesday for a nine-race card.

The track is rated a Soft 5 but with warm weather forecast we should see an upgrade. The rail is out 9.5m the entire course.

We’ve cast our eye over the form and provided our top selections for each race below.

Race 1 - 12:33pm AEST

QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1050 METRES)

Remlaps Angel (10) ran extremely well when debuting over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast last start.

The David Vandyke-trained filly worked forward from barrier 10 to lead for the majority of the race before Heartoni picked her off in the closing stages to finish just under a length second.

Oberoi Princess was third that day and she franked the form by winning impressively on Sunday.

The daughter of Hellbent again draws wide but there doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race which should see Kyle Wilson-Taylor cross easy enough.

1 Unit – Remlaps Angel (10)

Race 2 - 1:08pm AEST

QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1050 METRES)

Action King (1) had looked slick prior to his debut last start, winning a trial by seven lengths.

Unfortunately, the Kelly Schweida-trained colt was slow to leave the gates at Eagle Farm in his first start and he settled a long way off the lead.

He ran on strongly and was doing his best work through the line to finish third to Flag Hall by 0.8 of a length.

He’ll be better for the experience and should enjoy a great run from the inside gate for Jimmy Orman.

1 Unit – Action King (1)

Race 3 - 1:43pm AEST

Class 1 Plate (1050 METRES)

Helikedempretty (5) resumes here following a good first preparation.

The Rob Heathcote-trained mare wasn’t far away when placing at her first two starts before running on strongly to win her third start by a length at the Sunshine Coast over 1000m.

She warmed up for this with a nice trial win where she led before being picked off on the winning post.

Blake Spriggs, who is a newcomer to the Brisbane riding ranks, can go forward and give them something to catch.

1 Unit – Helikedempretty (5)

Race 4 - 2:18pm AEST

Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Brasco (1) will appreciate the rise to 1200m after a solid effort first-up over 1000m at Eagle Farm.

The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old gelding worked home strongly before being eased late when getting on the heels of leader General Boom to finish fourth by just 1.26 lengths. The margin should have been closer.

He’ll strip fitter second-up and will enjoy a nice run on pace for Jimmy Orman who replaces Jake Bayliss.

2 Units – Brasco (1)

Race 5 - 2:53pm AEST

Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

I Am Takingthelot (4) has been freshened following her nose second over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast last start.

The Tony Gollan-trained I Am Invincible mare won’t mind the drop back to 1200m as she did find the line strongly to finish a close third over this course and distance two starts back.

There looks to be good speed in the race which should see Jimmy Orman settle in just behind it before running on strongly.

1 Unit – I Am Takingthelot (4)

Race 6 - 3:28pm AEST

BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1650 METRES)

Evocator (5) impressed in his first start for Barry Lockwood after previously racing in New South Wales with Joseph Burges.

The five-year-old gelding settled well back over 1400m at Eagle Farm before running on strongly to win by just over half a length.

He was seven weeks between runs so he will strip fitter and while this is his first attempt over this trip, he gives every indication that he’ll be able to run it out strongly.

A likely genuine tempo will suit.

1 Unit Each Way – Evocator (5)

Race 7 - 4:03pm AEST

Class 2 Handicap (2060 METRES)

Sacred Feeling (4) has improved with each as she’s risen in distance.

Two starts back, the Tony Gollan-trained mare broke her maiden in dominant fashion over 1640m here.

She then toyed with her rivals to run on strongly and win easily over 1849m at Eagle Farm.

The rise to 2060m looks ideal fourth-up at peak fitness and from the kind draw, Ben Thompson can give her a lovely run.

2 Units – Sacred Feeling (4)

Race 8 - 4:38pm AEST

Class 4 Handicap (1200 METRES)

My Snow Queen (4) was luckless when resuming over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast.

The David Vandyke-trained mare was working into the race but then had her run closed with a furlong to go and she was eased out of it.

She’ll strip fitter second-up and will appreciate the rise to 1200m given she won over this course and distance last preparation. This is also a drop in class.

Justin Huxtable can take advantage of her early speed and lead or settle handy.

1 Unit Each Way – My Snow Queen (4)

Race 9 - 5:13pm AEST

BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Ammand (7) was forced to tow the rest of the field up to a tearaway leader last start over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast.

The Toby and Trent Edmonds-trained gelding did well to fight on for a 0.8 of a length second to Quadri.

This is her sixth run this preparation so she’ll be rock hard fit.

She maps to lead or sit handy for new jockey Andrew Mallyon who looks like a good fit for this horse.

1 Unit – Ammand (7)
