Ballarat - Race 9 9:48pm AEST

No. 7 Normal Life

Normal Life is still a maiden after nine starts but gets her best chance to break through in this contest.

The Margery Quick-trained chaser has improved with each start and her best racing has come over this course and distance where she has placed three times from five starts.

If she runs up to her best time of 22.68 seconds that she recorded just two starts ago, she should prove hard to beat.

She has the early speed to cross from box 7.

No. 5 Tension Head

Tension Head is still learning what the chasing caper is all about but looks well on his way.

The son of Tommy Shelby broke through for his first win two starts ago when showing an impressive burst of speed to win over 300m at Healesville in 16.87 seconds.

This is his first start from the squeeze box but he looks to have the necessary early dash to handle it.

Ballarat - Race 11 10:33pm AEST

No. 2 Argyle Emma

Argyle Emma just needs to repeat her performance over this course and distance two starts back to be hard to beat.

The daughter of Raw Ability jumped quickly to lead and looked the winner, only to be run down in the shadows of the post in a time of 22.58 seconds.

With limited speed to her inside, she should be able to find the fence from box 2 and give them something to catch.

Ballarat - Race 12 10:55pm AEST

No. 8 Desmonde

Desmonde loves this course and distance having won four and placed twice in nine starts.

He’s been racing well in stronger races than this so will appreciate the drop in class.

Box 8 suits as it will allow him to wind up down the outside.
