Peter Moody’s 2023 Melbourne Cup Tips

Peter Moody’s 2023 Melbourne Cup Tips

He may not have a runner in the Melbourne Cup this year, but we have still asked the great man to put together his Melbourne Cup tips.

Who does he think will win the race that stops a nation?

Moods has analysed every horse in the field and his complete 2023 Melbourne Cup tips are now available.

You can find tips from Peter Moody every single day by following his profile on the Ladbrokes App!

Winner – Vauban

Tipping the favourite in the Melbourne Cup might be the cowards way out, but I think that Vauban is clearly the horse to beat.

He showed his quality when he bolted at Royal Ascot and anybody that has seen him since he arrived in Australia has been quick to tell me how good he looks.

Trainer Willie Mullins generally picks the right horses to bring to Australia and I think Vauban can become the first Melbourne Cup favourite to win since Fiorente in 2013.

2nd – Gold Trip

Gold Trip has been there and done it.

I know that he has the top-weight, but this horse is absolutely flying and we know how tough he is.

His victory in the Turnbull Stakes was nothing short of outstanding and he has followed that up with excellent efforts in the Caulfield Cup and the Ladbrokes Cox Plate.

We know that he runs out a strong 3200 metres and it would be a surprise if he isn’t in the finish.

3rd – Soulcombe

Soulcombe needs to jump with the rest of the field, but if he does that then he looks well placed in the Melbourne Cup.

He ruined his chances in the Caulfield Cup when he missed the start, but he was still able to find the line nicely.

The step-up to 3200 metres looks ideal for him and we know how good a Grand Final trainer that Chris Waller is!

4th – Future History

Future History is the best lightweight chance in the 2023 Melbourne Cup field.

He earnt his place in the Melbourne Cup with an excellent win in The Bart Cummings and I really liked the way that he found the line in the Ladbrokes Moonee Valley Gold Cup last start.
