The Brisbane Racing Club will host a ten-race program this Saturday at Doomben and we’ve got you covered!

With showers late in the week, unfortunately we will be racing on a rain-affected surface.

We’ve studied the form and provided our top selections in each race below.

Race 1 - 1:13pm AEDT

QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110 METRES)

Tricky way to start the day with a two-year-old race where half the field are having their first starts.

Fields Amour (4) is one horse that has race experience and is the only winner in the field.

The Lee Freedman-trained filly showed excellent speed to lead all the way on debut over 800m at Ipswich.

The outside gate isn’t ideal, but she should be able to cross and either lead or settle handy.

1 Unit – Argyle Pink (5)

Race 2 - 1:48pm AEDT

QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1200 METRES)

Vindicta (4) has started his career in fine style.

The Jack Bruce-trained son of Rothesay impressed at the trials prior to his debut where he fought bravely in the heavy going to win narrowly over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast.

Last start he stepped up to this calibre of opponent and handled himself well, running on strongly to finish second by 1.8 lengths to Highbar with a big gap to third at the Sunshine Coast.

He’ll strip fitter third-up and the rise to 1200m will suit.

1 Unit – Vindicta (4)

Race 3 - 2:23pm AEDT

BENCHMARK 85 Handicap (2000 METRES)

Galifianakis (8) should be ready for a peak performance following two runs back this preparation.

The Jack Bruce-trained six-year-old gelding improved significantly last start when finding the line strongly over 1800m at the Sunshine Coast to finish a neck second.

He’ll strip fitter third-up and will enjoy the rise in distance given he is a previous winner over this course and distance.

Jim Byrne can roll forward from the inside gate and give his mount a beautiful run.

1 Unit – Galifianakis (8)

Race 4 - 2:58pm AEDT

BENCHMARK 68 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Smooth Torque (15) takes on her biggest challenge to date but is well and truly up to it following an impressive display last start.

The Matt Dunn-trained mare put the writing on the wall two starts back when running on strongly for a neck third over 1350m at Eagle Farm.

When rising to this distance here last start, she allowed things to unfold in front before letting down powerfully to win by just under a length with something in hand.

She’s at peak fitness now and should enjoy an economical run from a low draw.

1 Unit – Smooth Torque (15)

Race 5 - 3:33pm AEDT

Class 1 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Russian Mystic (1) has raced well since coming to Queensland from Victoria and looks close to another win.

The Barry Lockwood-trained four-year-old gelding raced wide throughout and hit the lead with 100m to go but was swamped on the outside to finish second by just under a length.

He was eight weeks between runs so will strip fitter second-up.

If Kyle Wilson-Taylor can find some cover from the sticky gate, he’ll be fighting out the finish.

1 Unit – Russian Mystic (1)

Race 6 - 4:08pm AEDT

Class 3 Handicap (1200 METRES)

John Rambo (2) has been very good this preparation with two wins from four starts.

The Tony Gollan-trained Adelaide gelding won first-up before struggling in The Gateway and the Rising Stars.

He bounced back in a big way last start when dropping in class over 1200m at Eagle Farm where he charged to the line late and winning by half a length.

He has a terrific record over this distance and won his only previous start over the course and distance.

1 Unit – John Rambo (2)

Race 7 - 4:47pm AEDT

BENCHMARK 85 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Northern Express (5) returned in super order last start at the Sunshine Coast.

The Michael Nolan-trained son of Better Than Ready raced three wide outside the lead early on before finding the line strongly to win by a length.

He’ll strip fitter second-up and will appreciate the drop in class.

He can settle closer from the inside gate and the rise in distance suits.

1 Unit – Northern Express (5)

Race 8 - 5:27pm AEDT

BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Pentito (8) will appreciate the drop in class after racing in significantly tougher races recently.

The Jason Edwards-trained Spill The Beans gelding savaged the line to finish seventh in the Magic Millions QTIS race two starts back before copping interference in the straight last start when eighth in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup.

His most recent win came when deep into last preparation over this course and distance.

He should enjoy a nice run from barrier 3 for Taylor Marshall.

1 Unit Each Way – Pentito (8)

Race 9 - 6:10pm AEDT

 OPEN Handicap (1350 METRES)

Boom Torque (3) has taken to life in Matt Dunn’s Murwillumbah stable extremely well with five wins from six starts since arriving in July last year.

He kicked off this campaign with a 1.1 length third over 1110m here and probably should have finished closer after finding trouble.

Last start the four-year-old gelding savaged the line after racing wide throughout to win the Magic Millions QTIS race at the Gold Coast in impressive fashion.

He’ll strip fitter third-up and with the lack of speed in the race, we could see Jimmy Orman settle closer in the run.

2 Units – Boom Torque (3)

Race 10 - 6:50pm AEDT

BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Viminele (4) is ready to win this preparation and gets a great opportunity to do so here.

The Lindsay Gough-trained four-year-old was slow away last start over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast but found the line strongly to finish a half-length second.

He’ll appreciate the drop in class and will be at peak fitness now.

He won his only previous start over this course and distance.

1 Unit – Viminele (4)
