Albury - Race 5 3:35pm AEST

No. 3 Check Side

Check Side impressed when winning his maiden over 1175m here last start.

The three-year-old gelding settled a long way back before storming home and putting his rivals away with ease for a 1.5 length win.

The rise to 1400m looks ideal given how strong he was through the line.

Hopefully Nick Souquet can settle a touch closer in the run which will make him hard to beat.

Bairnsdale - Race 7 4:30pm AEST

No. 1 The Old Lion

The Old Lion battled over the closing stages last start in a 2447m contest at Geelong so will appreciate dropping back to this distance.

That was also a stronger class race so coming back to this level of opposition will suit given the son of Churchill won in this class over this distance at Bendigo two starts back.

This is his pet trip with both his previous wins coming over 2200m.

He maps to get a great run from the inside barrier.

Albury - Race 7 4:45pm AEST

No. 3 Snap Book

Snap Book should be ready to produce a peak performance this preparation with conditions to suit.

The Donna Scott-trained gelding got a long way back over 1500m here last start before savaging the line to finish a half-length second.

He’ll strip fitter third-up and will appreciate the rise to 1600m given he won his only previous race over this course and distance.

They should run along which will aid his cause.

Armidale - Race 7 5:05pm AEST

No. 1 Iobject

Iobject led over 1200m at Grafton last start and despite giving a good kick in the straight, was run down to finish second by just under a length.

This is a big drop in class and he did win three starts back in a similar class race at Grafton.

On that occasion he raced three deep but still let down strongly with 61kg, which he carries here, to win by half a length.

From barrier 1 he should get the run of the race for Cobi Vitler.
