The penultimate day of the 2024 Royal Ascot Carnival is upon us and what a week it’s been!

Ladbrokes has you covered for Day 4 which is highlighted by the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes.

Without further ado, here’s our best bets for Royal Ascot Day 4.

Ascot - Race 1 11:30pm AEST

No. 11 Mountain Breeze

The Group 3 Albany Stakes has assembled a top field led by Fairy Godmother and Mountain Breeze.

I’m going with the latter, Mountain Breeze who looks to have plenty of upside after winning both her starts.

The Godolphin galloper won over 1006m on debut at Newmarket before stepping up to 1207m at the same track where she pulled away from her rivals in the final furlong to win comfortably by 2.5 lengths.

Mountain Breeze is a half-sister to champion two-year-old Pinatubo who won during the 2019 Royal Ascot Carnival.

Royal Ascot - Race 2 12:05am AEST

No. 4 Inisherin

The Group 1 Commonwealth Cup has had several high-profile horses withdraw but is still a quality contest.

Inisherin bounced back from finishing sixth in the 2000 Guineas two starts ago with a massive effort to win the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last start.

The son of Shamardal settled on speed before exploding late to win by 3.75 lengths and put the previously undefeated multiple Group 1 winner Vandeek to the sword.

Prior to that win he didn’t hold an entry to this race, but connections paid up the £46,000 to gain a start so that has to be respected.

Royal Ascot - Race 3 12:45am AEST

No. 5 Opera Singer

I’m expecting big improvement from Opera Singer in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes after she clearly needed the run first-up.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained daughter of Justify appeared to be big in the yard and tired late when finishing third by 4.75 lengths when resuming in the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas.

She was electric last preparation when winning the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp by five lengths.

She loves this distance and with increased fitness second-up should be right in the finish.

Royal Ascot - Race 6 2:40am AEST

No. 10 Space Legend

Space Legend should be entering the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes looking for a hattrick of wins.

The William Haggas-trained colt was held up badly last start at Goodwood before hitting the line hard once he finally got clear to finish a neck second. It was a sickening watch.

The start prior when resuming at Leicester, he led before booting clear to win easily by 5.5 lengths with nearly 10 lengths to third.

He’ll strip fitter third-up and with room to move, he should be running on strongly.
