Midweek racing once again heads to Doomben this Wednesday where eight races are scheduled to be run and won.

The weather in Brisbane has been cool but fine recently and that continues for this meeting. The rail is out 8m so on pace runners could be advantaged.

Our top selections for each race can be found below.

Race 1 - 12:36PM AEST

Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Cliodhna Maeve (5) hasn’t had the best of luck since arriving at Paul Shailer’s stable from New Zealand.

The Zacinto filly enjoyed a lovely run behind the leader first-up at this track but couldn’t get clear in the straight when appearing to have plenty to offer and finished 4.1 lengths sixth.

Last start when finishing two lengths second at Eagle Farm she was again held up and had to check off heels which proved the difference with the winner enjoying a straight run down the outside.

She strips fitter third-up and gets winkers for the first time which will hopefully aid her getting a clear run.

With even luck, she should be fighting out the finish.

1 Unit – Cliodhna Maeve (5)

Race 2 - 1:11PM AEST

Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Mystic Mac (9) should be ready to win following three runner-up finishes from his four starts this preparation.

Two starts back the Chris Meagher-trained gelding recovered from a slow start to chase home the impressive Invincible Shield for a 3.3 length second.

The son of Encryption led over 1350m here last start but was run down by Strapperoo to finish just under a length second with third nearly three lengths away.

The 3kg claim helps and he should enjoy a nice run on speed.

1 Unit – Mystic Mac (9)

Race 3 - 1:46PM AEST

Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Magic Island (2) resumes here for her second preparation.

The Rob Heathcote-trained three-year-old turned in a solid trial behind Stellar Lady who is significantly better than the horses she’ll face here.

Last preparation she won nicely over 1200m at Eagle Farm on debut before finishing second in a Saturday three-year-old race.

Michael Rodd can go forward from the nice draw and dictate proceedings which should make the filly hard to catch.

1 Unit – Magic Island (2)

Race 4 - 2:21PM AEST

Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap (1200 METRES)

La Fast Tycoon (4) looks ready for town after winning his maiden on debut at Warwick with ease.

The Jack Bruce-trained son of Written Tycoon went forward from the outside barrier to settle second before letting down powerfully to win by 2.8 lengths.

He’ll have gained valuable experience from the run and will strip fitter second-up.

Damien Thornton sticks and can give him a lovely run on speed from barrier 3.

1 Unit – La Fast Tycoon (4)

Race 5 - 2:56PM AEST

QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1650 METRES)

Victory Command (8) will appreciate getting out to a mile based on the way he has been racing since joining the Barry Lockwood stable.

The son of Pierro found the line well first-up at Ipswich over 1350m but was no match for the battled hardened Miss Miriam and finished 1.3 lengths second with over four lengths back to third.

Last start he registered the fastest final 200m of the race when finishing second by just under a length over 1400m at Eagle Farm.

He drops 3kgs in weight thanks to Cody Collis’ claim and maps to get a nice run.

1 Unit – Victory Command (8)

Race 6 - 3:31PM AEST

Class 5 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Space Tracker (2) will enjoy the rise to 1350m following two excellent runs over 1200m.

The Annabel Neasham-trained gelding let down powerfully to win by 1.5 lengths over 1200m here two starts back.

Last start he clocked the fastest final 600m and 400m closing splits when finishing third by 1.7 lengths over 1200m in this class.

He’s at peak fitness now and should enjoy a nice run for Jag Guthmann-Chester just behind what looks like a decent speed.

1 Unit – Space Tracker (2)

Race 7 - 4:06PM AEST

BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Notacluehoworwho (10) returned in great order over 1300m at Eagle Farm last start.

The Gary Duncan-trained grey gelding let down strongly, recording the fastest final 600m of the race, to miss the win in a head bobbing finish with 3.3 lengths back to third.

He’ll strip fitter second-up and did win his second run back last preparation.

He’s drawn a touch sticky but with an ounce of luck he can fight out the finish.

1 Unit – Notacluehoworwho (10)

Race 8 - 4:41PM AEST

Class 2 Handicap (1650 METRES)

Brasco (3) was scratched from a winnable, stronger race on Saturday in preference for this.

The Chris Waller-trained son of Street Boss powered home from the back in the quickest final 600m of the race to win over 1350m here two starts back.

Last start he settled a long way back after drawing terribly but ran on strongly to finish 2.7 lengths fifth to Atlantic Ocean who won again on Saturday.

The way he ran through the line suggested that he is crying out for this longer trip now that he’s rock hard fit.

1 Unit – Brasco (3)
