Following on from Scottie Scheffler’s remarkable win in the men’s tournament, compatriot Nelly Korda will be looking to make it an American double with back-to-back golds.

However she will not find it easy against a crack field that features the likes of Lilia Vu, Atthaya Thitikul and Jin Young Ko.

  • Strokes Gained: Around The Green

Le Golf National is the most revered course on continental Europe, one that has hosted the Ryder Cup and is the annual stage for the Open de France.

It is a fierce test with danger everywhere.

Success from tee to green is critical with a strong preference to playing from the fairway as greens are small and scrambling is difficult.

Avoiding trouble is essential.

BEST BET

BROOKE HENDERSON

Canadian Brooke Henderson is a two-time major winner with 13 LPGA Tour wins to her name and there would be few more deserving winners of the gold than Henderson.

She profiles wonderfully here as she is elite tee to green, ranking sixth in GIR and 15th in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green.

She also ranks eighth in Scrambling, which is a key element here.

Henderson has finished Top 15 in six US Opens, which is a great guide and she is a great bet in this market.

BEST VALUE

MINJEE LEE

Australian Minjee Lee is a two-time major winner and they are great guides as one was a US Open and the other was the Evian Championship, staged in France.

She leads the LPGA in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green, as Scheffler did in the men prior to winning, while she also leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach. Lee has been mixing form but should be well suited.

XIYU LIN

Xiyu Lin has been so close so often with three major Top 10s in the last four seasons and has failed to get over the line but like Xander in Tokyo, this could be a breakthrough event.

She has finished Top 13 in three of the last four US Opens, so game should suit.

Her outstanding game around the green puts her right in the mix where she ranks seventh in Strokes Gained: Around The Green and ninth in Scrambling.

BEST ROUGHIES

PATTY TAVATANAKIT

Patty is back! The popular Patty Tavatanakit won the Chevron in her debut season on the LPGA but since then her form fell away badly as she lost control of her swing.

A win in the Honda LPGA Thailand though on February though showed she was back and her form has held with three Top 12 finishes in her last five starts.

Ranks fifth in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and in Strokes Gained: Around The Green.

PEIYUN CHIEN

Taiwanese veteran Chien Peiyun is the best of the real rough ones.

She ranks sixth in Strokes Gained: Approach and ninth in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green.

Comes off a T-7 in the Evian, a great push for here.

MATCHUP HULL v GREEN

HANNAH GREEN

Australian Hannah Green is playing an outstanding brand of golf at the moment and she always finds her best on the tougher courses.
