Premier League Darts Night 5 Preview

Premier League Darts Night 5 Preview

The fifth week of the Premier League comes to us from the Brighton Centre in Brighton where Luke Humphries will look to defend his nightly win from last year after winning in Exeter last week as well.

Gerwyn Price v Michael Van Gerwen

Michael Van Gerwen has enjoyed a far more consistent Premier League with three quarter final wins though he has yet to advance to a final.

Gerwyn Price, by contrast, won in Dublin but has two quarter final exits and one further semi.

Price has topped an average of 98 just twice in his seven matches and both came in Dublin.

Van Gerwen has averaged around the 93 mark in his last two Premier League matches but has topped 98 in his prior five.

MVG has won five of the last six meetings and should add to that record.

Tip: Michael Van Gerwen 6-4

Luke Littler v Chris Dobey

Luke Littler has played eight matches in this Premier League and has averaged under 99.78 just once – a 96.82 in last week’s final against Luke Humphries.

He comes off an incredible UK Open where he decimated James Wade 11-2 in the final, averaging 101.51.

Chris Dobey drew Stephen Bunting in the UK Open and won before losing to Dimitri Van den Bergh.

Dobby has not topped 98 and has been eliminated in the opening round in his last three.

Tip: Luke Littler 6-2

Rob Cross v Luke Humphries

Luke Humphries has been the star of the Premier League through a month with three finals appearances including two wins.

He looks vulnerable this week against great mate Rob Cross with Cross having a great recent record against Cool Hand.

Cross has won five of the last seven meetings with a loss in this year’s Premier League 6-5.

The plus is good and the value is Cross.

Tip: Rob Cross 6-5

Stephen Bunting v Nathan Aspinall

Stephen Bunting’s torturous start to the Premier League has been somewhat unlucky, drawing the four best players in the world rankings in the first four weeks.

He gets a much better chance to break his duck this week when he meets a gutsy Nathan Aspinall.

The Bullet has won the last three meetings including an 11-1 hiding in the 2024 Masters.

The Asp will arguably feel more lethargic after a longer UK Open run last week.

Confident Bunting gets the win ere.

Tip: Stephen Bunting 6-3

Nightly Winner

Luke Littler ($2.63)

It is impossible to go past Luke Littler this week. He gets an easy opening round matchup and when he loses it takes a special performance. Off his UK Open win he is a tremendous play.
