Ten races are scheduled to be run and won this Thursday night at ‘The Creek’ and you can find all the good oil in our Albion Park Preview.
I’m particularly keen on my selections in races 4, 5 and 6 so check them out and maybe consider them for a multi.
I’ve been seeing them well recently, with my past two previews each tipping half the card so fingers crossed this hot run can continue.
Let’s go!
Race 1 - 7:19pm AEDT
Garrard's Horse and Hound 6th Grade 520m
Summer’s Edition (2) produced her best performance over this course and distance when finish second to Moet Magic last start.
The Travis Elson-trained bitch mustered speed quickly to settle second in the run and that’s where she stayed, finishing two lengths second in 30.27 seconds.
She won over 395m here five starts ago when breaking 23 seconds so she has speed.
From box 2 she should find the front early and go all the way.
1 Unit – Summer’s Edition (2)
Race 2 - 7:40pm AEDT
Ladbrokes Black Book 5th/6th Grade 600m
I like to be positive but there is no denying that this is a weak field which makes it extremely difficult to find the winner.
I’m going with Jupiter (1) based purely on the fact he at least knows how to win having been victorious 15 times from 81 starts.
He’s been finishing midfield recently over much shorter trips but does boast a personal best of 35.23 seconds over this course and distance.
If he runs somewhere close to that, then he has a good chance of claiming another win.
0.5 Units – Jupiter (1)
Race 3 - 7:58pm AEDT
Box 1 Photography 5th Grade 600m
Canya Cash In (2) has been racing well since stepping up to this course and distance recently.
The Jemma Daley-trained dog won back-to-back races three and four starts back when clocking best of the night times of 34.94 seconds and 35.05 seconds.
In his two subsequent races since then he’s been a touch slow and found trouble shortly after leaving the lids.
On his best jump he can lead this field from box 2 and prove hard to run down.
1 Unit – Canya Cash In (2)
Race 4 - 8:19pm AEDT
Sky Racing 3rd/4th Grade 520m
Backcreek Benny (8) is racing in a purple patch of form with wins in each of his past six races.
The Selena Zammit-trained dog produced an amazing performance six starts ago over this course and distance where he stormed home to win in 29.75 seconds after entering the first bend last after a slow start.
It was a similar situation last start when rounding the field up to win in 30.16 seconds on a wet track.
In between those two 520m races, he had been racing and winning over 600m so you know he’s going to be powerful late.
He’s not the quickest of beginners, so the outside box will allow him to build momentum before charging late.
2 Units – Backcreek Benny (8)
Race 5 - 8:40pm AEDT
Rosewood Veterinary Service OPEN 710m
Ace’s Chance (1) is low flying and looking for his fourth win in a row.
The Jeff Crawford-trained dog found the front in the run home but tired in the closing stages to dead heat with Garrison three starts ago when resuming before giving them a chasing lesson two starts over 600m here when setting a personal best of 34.75 seconds in a nine-length romp.
He stepped up to this course and distance last start and easily won in 42.11 seconds.
He recorded his personal best of 41.91 seconds when jumping from this box so he should be hard to beat once again and is the best bet in my Albion Park Preview.
2 Units – Ace’s Chance (1)
Race 6 - 8:59pm AEDT
Easter Trophy Heat 5th Grade 520m
Grevillea (2) is an up-and-coming chaser who has won four of his six races.
The son of Aston Rupee was last seen putting the sword to his rivals over 520m at Ipswich where he led all the way for a 16.5 length win in 30.08 seconds.
He’ll appreciate returning to Albion Park where he won the Final of the QGold Rookies three starts ago and recorded a personal best for the course and distance four starts back in 29.83 seconds.
He can do it at both ends of the race and I expect him to be hard to beat in the opening heat of the Easter Trophy and salute as one of the better bets in my Albion Park Preview.
2 Units – Grevillea (2)
Race 7 - 9:18pm AEDT
Easter Trophy Heat 5th Grade 520m
Tarawi Buster (6) has been racing well but just running into one better.
The son of Oaks Road won over this course and distance five starts ago in 30.12 seconds.
Since then, he has finished second to Danger Zone in 29.95 seconds, second to Uno Nangar and third to Star Turn.
He can track Whistle Away across early and settle in a forward position.
1 Unit – Tarawi Buster (6)
Race 8 - 9:41pm AEDT
Easter Trophy Heat 5th Grade 520m
Ruin Art won back-to-back races three and four starts back over 520m at Ipswich where he led all the way on both occasions in 30.15 seconds and a best of the night 30.33 seconds.
The Tony Apap-trained dog was only fair to begin from the squeeze box two starts ago over this course and distance and that put pay to his chances.
However, he bounced back last start when leading all the way from box 7 to stop the clock in 29.99 seconds.
This is harder and he’s yet to win from box 8, but on his best jump he has the speed to cross and lead.
1 Unit – Ruin Art (8)
Race 9 - 10:00pm AEDT
Pacers and Chasers Bistro M5 520m
Tagovailoa (8) was backed to win several Masters races recently, but bad luck saw him disappoint the market.
The Tom Tzouvelis-trained dog put that bad luck behind him last start when driving hard from box 1 to find the front over this course and distance before going onto win in 30.54 seconds.
Box 8 isn’t ideal but there doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race so he should be able to gather momentum early and find a prominent position.
1 Unit – Tagovailoa (8)
Race 10 - 10:21pm AEDT
Carina Leagues Club M5 520m
Shian Quirky (7) has been racing in good form with two wins from his past three starts.
The son of Sennachie flew out of box 6 here last start before going on to win by six lengths in 30.27 seconds.
That’s a decent time for a Masters race so he just needs to replicate that effort here.
He should be able to cross and get on the arm from box 7.
1 Unit – Shian Quirky (7)
