Albion Park Greyhounds Preview – Thursday 10th April

Albion Park Greyhounds Preview – Thursday 10th April

Another Thursday has rolled around which means there’s chasing at ‘The Creek’ and I’ve covered all the action in my Albion Park Greyhounds Preview.

Ten races are scheduled to be run and won with the Easter Trophy Final and heats of the Eric Thomson Memorial the highlights.

I’m particularly keen on a young greyhound in the race 8 feature that has been winning by massive margins and is clearly my best bet on the program.

We’ve enjoyed plenty of success at Albion Park over the past month so let’s keep the good times rolling!

Eric Thomson Memorial Heat 520m - Race 1 6:42pm AEST

Miles On It (8) impressed on debut over 520m at Ipswich where he showed good early speed from the inside box to lead all the way in 30.42 seconds.

Unfortunately, not a lot went right for the Jeff Crawford-trained dog last start when checked several times which saw him finish near the tail.

He can bounce back here in the opening heat of the Eric Thomson Memorial.

Box 8 will enable him to muster speed early and I wouldn’t be surprised if he leads into the first turn.

Eric Thomson Memorial Heat 520m - Race 2 7:04pm AEST

Jay Walking (7) won on debut at Capalaba before a slow start cost him any chance in his second start.

The son of Fernando Bale demonstrated his capabilities last start over this course and distance when showing great early speed to lead.

Unfortunately, the wet track saw him tire late and he was run down by Zipping Gatsby to finish a close second in 30.19 seconds.

A repeat of that run will see him hard to beat in the second heat of the Eric Thomson Memorial.

Eric Thomson Memorial Heat 520m - Race 3 7:25pm AEST

Hara’s Kitana (3) looks the one to beat in the third and final heat of the Eric Thomson Memorial.

The Jemma Dailly-trained Hooked On Scotch bitch was first out and first home in 30.23 seconds over this course and distance when debuting last start.

She’ll be better for the experience and has the speed to get on the arm from box 3 and go all the way.

Garrard's Horse and Hound 5th/6th Grade 710m - Race 4 7:43pm AEST

Autumn Storm (5) won the Keith Sternberg Memorial over 630m at Ipswich last start where she crossed from box 8 to lead all the way in 37.64 seconds.

The Tom Tzouvelis-trained bitch has only raced once before over this course and distance which was two starts ago when she bravely chased Ace’s Chance to finish second in 42.51 seconds.

She’s a classy chaser having won the G1 Ipswich Cup last year as well as finishing fourth in the G1 Golden Sands earlier this year.

She should find the front early and prove hard to run down.

Ladbrokes Black Book 5th Grade 520m - Race 5 8:04pm AEST

Non Stop Recall (8) drops back in distance after leading all the way for a 35.52 second win over 600m here last start.

The son of Fernando Bale is yet to win in five starts over this course and distance but has placed on three occasions in decent times.

Four starts ago she recorded a personal best of 30.18 seconds when chasing home the red hot Star Turn.

She looks to have the most upside in this field and just needs to be in striking distance as she’ll be strong late.

Tricky Micky (2) was checked out of it entering the first turn last start in the G3 Golden Chase Final at Ipswich.

The Fernando Bale chaser can bounce back given he’s won eight of 14 career starts.

He’s predominantly raced at Ipswich and has only raced over this course and distance twice but did win here early in his career in 30.03 seconds.

On his best jump he can get on the arm and looks one of the better chances at Albion Park on Thursday.

Sky Racing 4th/5th Grade 520m - Race 7 8:49pm AEST

Uno Nangar (7) boasts an amazing record over this course and distance of nine wins from 14 starts.

The daughter of Primo Uno was slow away last start and that was the advantage Star Turn needed, but to her credit she chased strongly to shorten the gap and finish second.

Two starts back she scorched the sand here when winning in 29.72 seconds.

She loves box seven having won three of four races.

QGRC Easter Trophy Final - Race 8 9:12pm AEST

Grevillea (3) is an up-and-coming chaser who has won five of his seven races and is the best bet in my Albion Park preview.

The son of Aston Rupee produced the quickest Easter Trophy heat win last start when walloping his rivals by 10.25 lengths in 29.94 seconds.

Two starts back he put the sword to his rivals over 520m at Ipswich where he led all the way for a 16.5 length win in 30.08 seconds.

He can do it at both ends of the race and I expect him to be hard to beat in the final of the Easter Trophy.

2 Units – Grevillea (3)

Rosewood Veterinary Service 4th/5th Grade 600m - Race 9 9:31pm AEST

Garrison (5) drops back to 600m after being run down on the line last start over 710m here and winning over that trip two starts back in 42.02 seconds.

The son of Tommy Shelby has a good record over this course and distance and won over it four starts ago in 34.82 seconds.

The vacant box to his immediate outside and the lack of speed from the 7 and 8 dogs should allow him to muster speed early and camp on the back of the leaders.

He just needs to be in striking distance as he should have them covered for strength late in the race.

1 Unit – Garrison (5)

Ladbrokes Racing Club M5 520m - Race 10 9:55pm AEST

Shian Quirky (3) has been racing in good form with two wins from his past three starts and looks tough to beat in the last race at Albion Park.

The son of Sennachie flew out of box 6 over this course and distance three starts ago before going on to win by six lengths in 30.27 seconds.

We were on two starts back when he gave a massive sight, only to be run down right on the line.

He returned to the winner’s kennel last start when leading all the way for a comfortable win in 30.30 seconds.
