The Queensland Winter Greyhound Racing Carnival officially starts this weekend, but we get a taste of things to come this Thursday night with a feature final on the 10-race card at Ladbrokes Q2 Parklands.

The QGold Emerging Sprinters Final has assembled a strong field that includes G3 Brisbane Young Gun winner Star Turn.

We have to be patient for my best bets as they come up in the races towards the end of the night.

I’ve put in the hard work for you, and you can find my Ladbrokes Q2 Parklands tips for each race below.

Race 1 - 6:42pm AEST

Ladbrokes Black Book 6th Grade 520m

Alacrity Dave (5) started his career in fine fashion with a strong win over 352m on the Ladbrokes Q1 Lakeside track.

The Greg Brennan-trained dog jumped well from box 7 to settle second before capitalising on the leader running wide to charge home along the rail and win by 4.25 lengths.

He’ll be better for the experience and the rise in distance looks suitable given how well he ran through the line.

Race 2 - 6:59pm AEST

Greyhounds Make Great Pets 5th Grade 600m

Miles On It (8) copped a check heading into the first turn last start in the final of the G3 Brisbane Young Guns which put pay to any chance he had.

The Jeff Crawford-trained dog was racing well before that with back-to-back runner-up finishes including the Eric Thomson Maiden Final.

Four starts back he won in a slick 29.87 seconds over 520m at Albion Park.

He has the speed to cross from box 8 and he won his only previous start when wearing the pink rug.

Race 3 - 7:19pm AEST

Sky Racing 5th Grade 600m

Cheers For Bella (8) drops back to 600m after racing well over 710m at Albion Park recently.

The Tony Apap-trained bitch has been in consistent form with six top three finishes from her past eight starts including an all the way 4.5 length win in a best of the night 41.79 seconds.

She’s run quick times over this distance at Albion Park and is a multiple winner over 630m at Ipswich.

She should be able to cross from box 8 and get on the arm.

Race 4 - 7:40pm AEST

Garrard's Horse and Hound OPEN 710m

Ace’s Chance (6) was slow away last start over 710m at Albion Park and that stopped him from getting into the race.

The Jeff Crawford-trained dog was in good form before that, winning form three starts ago, dropping back to 600m and leading all the way to clock a swift 34.82 seconds.

He stepped back up to 710m two starts ago and once again showed his strength, winning by 1.75 lengths in 42.30 seconds.

With his speed, he has the potential to lead from box 6 and maintain his position all the way to the finish.

Stowaway (7) didn’t have a great deal of luck in his only previous start over 710m at Albion Park two starts ago.

The Tom Tzouvelis-trained dog dropped back to 600m last start here and produced a super run to charge home and win by 2.5 lengths in 34.55 seconds.

He was strong through the line so I’m happy to give him another chance over this longer distance.

Race 6 - 8:25pm AEST

Rosewood Veterinary Service 4th/5th Grade 520m

Uno Nangar (7) was luckless two starts ago in the Winged Runner Trophy Final when last out and then copping a number of checks in the run to finish fifth.

The John Corrigan-trained bitch had been in racing in consistent form before that with four wins and three placings from her eight starts.

She has the benefit of having had a look at this course and distance last week when winning a match race at the picnic race meeting in 29.63 seconds.

She’s no stranger to box 7 having finished in the quinella in five of six starts when wearing the black rug.

Race 7 - 8:45pm AEST

Ladbrokes Racing Club 5th Grade 520m

Loving Angel (5) is lightly raced and has more upside than the dogs she faces here.

The Jeff Crawford-trained bitch has only missed the top three twice in seven starts and has greeted the judge first on two occasions.

Three starts ago over 520m at Albion Park she jumped straight to the front and went all the way for a three-length win in 30.10 seconds.

In both her wins, she showed excellent speed out of the lids so if she can do that here then she can lead from box 5.

Race 8 - 9:08pm AEST

QGold Emerging Sprinters Final 520m

Star Turn (3) has been in unbelievable form with seven wins in his past nine starts which puts him in good stead for his first visit to Ladbrokes Q2 Parklands.

The Jeff Crawford-trained dog led into the first turn and went on to narrowly win the G3 Brisbane Young Guns Final last start.

Three starts back he won the Rockhampton Cup and has also broken 30 seconds several times over 520m at Albion Park in his recent wins.

He’s a quick beginner but may face opposition from Moet Magic for the lead but regardless he should enjoy a great run from box 3.

Race 9 - 9:32pm AEST

Ladbrokes Fast Withdrawals 5th Grade 520m

Know All Leah (8) was squeezed early over this course and distance last start but stormed home to miss the win by a whisker, clocking 29.85 seconds.

The daughter of Sennachie had been racing in good form before that with a win over 484m at Casino in 27.51 seconds four starts ago before giving Mckeon a tough fight when going down by the barest of margins at the same venue.

She’ll be better for the experience at the track and box 8 could aid her as she’ll be able to build momentum without interference.

With a clear path, she could take some holding out.

Race 10 - 9:53pm AEST

Ladbrokes Communities M5 520m

Villante (4) appreciated returning to Masters class last start after trying hard and placing twice in five races in stronger company.

The Chris Brydon-trained dog led over this course and distance but was picked off late to finish second by three-quarters of a length in 30.12 seconds.

The previous time he competed in a Masters race was over 520m at Albion Park seven starts ago where he charged around them on the first turn before proving too strong in 30.15 seconds.

He has the early speed to cross the dogs on his inside and get on the arm to hopefully send us home from Ladbrokes Q2 Parklands with a win.
