Premier League Darts: Finals Night Preview

The Premier League season draws to a close at the O2 Arena in London with Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall the four qualifiers for this year’s playoffs.

Littler is the only winner amongst the foursome, claiming the crown in his debut season last year, while the remaining three have all lost finals.

Luke Littler v Gerwyn Price

If Luke Littler has one bogeyman it is Welshman Gerwyn Price.

While there is no doubt at all that Littler is the most feared and arguably best arrowsmith on the planet but the one player he has had trouble with is Price.

Littler has won the last two Premier League affairs 6-3 but prior the Welshman had won six straight.

Over the course of the Premier League Littler’s numbers cast a big shadow over Price’s: 102.43 average against 96.60, 45% checkout against 38% and 169 maximums to 71.

The inconsistent Price though can beat anyone on his night and he does find against Littler.

The Nuke should advance but expect this to be close.

Tip: Luke Littler 10-8

Luke Humphries v Nathan Aspinall

Luke Humphries is so confident heading to the O2 that he played the European Tour event on the weekend, where he reached the semis before going down to a resurgent Jonny Clayton.

A dominant 6-0 win over former world champ Michael Smith confirmed the form he is in.

In the final three weeks of the Premier League, Humphries has a nightly win and a losing final, averaging 97.4 or higher in five of his seven matches.

The Asp also has a win but has topped 97.4 just once.

Cool Hand’s scoring power is too great.

Tip: Luke Humphries 10-6

Premier League Winner

The Premier League is Luke Littler’s to lose but he faces a niggly semi-final that he could well lose.

It would be a surprise if Luke Humphries was seriously threatened by Nathan Aspinall.

Humphries is the No.1 player in the world and does hold an 8-7 edge over The Nuke in their last 15 meetings.

Take the big odds Humphries.
