The Queensland Winter Greyhound Racing Carnival moves from the Q2 Parklands track to Q1 Lakeside this Thursday night.

Heats of the Group 2 Cyndie’s Magic and the Group 3 Ladbrokes Dashing Corsair highlight the 12-race program.

This is a card that I’m keen to get involved in with the cream rising to the top.

Let’s get straight into the business of finding winners at Ladbrokes Q1 Lakeside!

Race 1 - 6:42pm AEST

Rosewood Veterinary Service 6th Grade 457m

Wolf Thunder (7) started his career in sparkling fashion with back-to-back wins before running into trouble last start.

The Tony Brett-trained bitch won over this course and distance on debut in 25.71 seconds.

She went even quicker two starts ago when clocking 25.51 seconds in a two-length victory.

She’s shown good early speed so she should be able to cross from box 7 or at the very least track the five dog.

Race 2 - 7:03pm AEST

Ladbrokes The Dashing Corsair Heat 642m

Red Dirt Road (1) finished second in his first two races this preparation before lighting up the Ladbrokes Q2 Parklands track over 710m.

The Tim Britton-trained dog went straight to the front and was never headed, winning by six lengths against many of the same dogs in 41.03 seconds.

He repeated the dose last start but was forced to work for it when storming home to win in 41.46 seconds.

He’s at peak fitness and is ideally drawn in box 1.

Race 3 - 7:28pm AEST

Ladbrokes The Dashing Corsair Heat 642m

West On Boonie (4) is a Western Australian chaser who arrives in Queensland following a fourth placing in a heat of the Sandown Cup.

The son of Tommy Shelby won back-to-back races at Cannington prior to that and was third in the Group 3 Miata Final four starts ago.

He won the Group 1 Galaxy over 715m at Cannington last year so looks well placed in this field.

The vacant box to his outside helps and he has the early speed to lead on his best jump.

1 Unit – West On Boonie (4)

Race 4 - 7:49pm AEST

Autumn Storm (1) returns home from a successful New South Wales mission that delivered a big pay day.

The Tom Tzouvelis-trained daughter of Aston Rupee flew out of box 1 in the Ladbrokes 715 Final to lead before going all the way for a 1.75 length win in 41.46 seconds.

She’s a Group 1 winner having won the Ipswich Cup last November.

She loves this box having won five and placed second four times from 10 starts.

2 Units – Autumn Storm (1)

Race 5 - 8:10pm AEST

Ladbrokes Cyndie's Magic Heat 550m

Tim Zoo (8) looks awfully hard to beat in the opening heat of the Ladbrokes Cyndie’s Magic.

The Jason Thompson-trained dog is a Group 1 winner and arrives in Queensland on the back of a fourth place finish in the Group 1 Harrison-Dawson Final.

He always competes at the highest level with his last win coming in February when winning a semi-final of the Group 1 Australian Cup before missing by a nose in the final.

Box 8 should allow him to gather momentum early without interference.

2 Units – Tim Zoo (8)

Race 6 - 8:31pm AEST

Ladbrokes Cyndie's Magic Heat 550m

Mepunga Smokey (5) broke the Q1 Lakeside track record over this course and distance last start when winning by five lengths in 30.36 seconds.

The Tim Britton-trained dog failed to qualify for the Group 1 Harrison-Dawson Final two starts ago but did win over 515m at The Meadows four starts back in 29.98 seconds.

He’s made several Group 1 final throughout his career with his best effort coming in last year’s Perth Cup when finishing third.

He can hit top speed quickly and looks one of the major players.

1 Unit – Mepunga Smokey (5)

Race 7 - 8:55pm AEST

Ladbrokes Cyndie's Magic Heat 550m

Mepunga Reward (8) looks hard to beat based on his hot Victorian form.

The Jeffrey Britton-trained dog was last seen finishing 2.25 lengths third to Flying Zulu in the Group 1 Harrison Dawson Final.

He’ll appreciate the rise to this distance given he bolted in by 8.25 lengths and six lengths in best of the night times over 600m at The Meadows four and five starts ago.

He loves box 8 having won three of four starts when wearing the pink rug.

Race 8 - 9:16pm AEST

Ladbrokes Cyndie's Magic Heat 550m

Canya All Class (4) has been freshened after finishing at the tail of The Sandgroper field last start at Cannington.

The son of Shima Shine is a talented chaser who can cover any distance.

He won the Group 1 Top Gun Stayers Final over 730m at The Meadows in November before finishing fourth in the Group 1 Australian Cup earlier this year.

If he begins on terms with his rivals, he should be too strong late.

1 Unit – Canya All Class (4)

Race 9 - 9:37pm AEST

Ladbrokes SMR In Multis 4th/5th Grade 457m

Masked Singer (7) boasts an impressive record of 10 wins from 19 starts and has been racing well at Q1 Lakeside.

The son of Tommy Shelby saluted as a $1.40 favourite last start over 390m here in 21.81 seconds.

He takes this distance on for the first time but given how strong he was through the line and that fact he’s won twice over 520m at Albion Park, he should enjoy it.

He won his only previous box 7 start and I’d be expect him to be vying for the lead early.

1 Unit – Masked Singer (7)

Race 10 - 9:59pm AEST

Ladbrokes Mates Mode Pots 5th Grade 457m

Hara’s Tim Tam (5) produced a career best when winning over this course and distance last start.

The Jemma Daley-trained dog flew out of box 7 to lead all the way for a four-length win in 25.53 seconds.

He won his only previous start from box 5 over 390m here by four lengths in good time.

He’s armed with good early speed so can find the front and prove hard to catch.

1 Unit – Hara’s Tim Tam (5)

Race 11 - 10:17pm AEST

Box 1 Photography 5th Grade 457m

Chasing Snow (1) takes on this course and distance for the first time but has been racing well over the shorter trips here recently.

The son of Tommy Shelby was beaten by a wide box last start when finishing second over 390m here in 21.98 seconds.

Three starts back he showed good speed and strength late to win in 22.06 seconds.

He’s won over 431m at Ipswich so shouldn’t have any issues with the rise in distance and gets the advantage of box 1.

1 Unit – Chasing Snow (1)

Race 12 - 10:35pm AEST

Greyhounds Make Great Pets M5 457m

Black Comanche (8) was unlucky last start in the QGOLD Veterans Final over this course and distance when checked out of it but to his credit he fought back strongly to finish third.

The son of Zambora Brockie won three in a row to start this preparation including over this course and distance two starts ago in 25.77 seconds.

This is his fifth run back from a long break so he should be rock hard fit.

He loves box 8 having won four and placed three times from seven starts.
