Racing returns to Eagle Farm this Saturday with a competitive nine-race card, and below Ladbrokes have the complete Eagle Farm preview and tips.
The track is currently rated a Soft 5. Although Saturday is expected to be fine, rain forecast for Friday is likely to keep the surface in the Soft range.
The rail is out 1m the entire circuit, offering a fair racing surface for all runners.
Let’s break each race down and do our best to find a winner or five!
Arisphere (9) returns to the races for the first time since finding the line well in a stronger race over 1000m at the Gold Coast to finish 1.3 lengths third.
The form from that race has held up well with the second placed horse, Chakra Boy, winning a 3YO race on Caloundra Cup Day.
The Tony Gollan-trained mare warmed up for this first-up assignment with an impressive trial win where she cruised around in front.
She’s a previous winner over the track and distance and maps to get a great run behind a hot speed for Angela Jones.
1 Unit – Arisphere (9)
Berezka (2) ventures north from Sydney and brings superior form to her Queensland rivals.
The Ciaron Maher-trained filly was last seen settling back over 1100m at Rosehill before finishing off nicely for a 1.9 length fourth to King’s Secret who subsequently won.
She should be at peak fitness now and the rise to 1200m looks ideal.
Angela Jones takes the ride and will look to get to the outside and charge home.
1 Unit – Berezka (2)
Aerial Dancer (8) worked hard to find the front from a wide barrier last start in the Listed Tattersall’s Mile and understandably weakened to finish ninth.
The Matt Hoysted-trained mare gave a big sight two starts back when leading until the shadows of the post over this distance on Ipswich Cup Day to finish a nose fourth.
She’s at peak fitness now and is a previous winner over this course and distance.
There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race which should see Damien Thornton control the race from barrier 1.
1 Unit – Aerial Dancer (8)
Chica Mojito (9) looks ready to win a race in Queensland after an encouraging effort in the Listed Tattersall’s Mile last start.
The Chris Waller-trained mare enjoyed a nice run and finished well for a 2.2 length third.
Her prior form in Sydney was good enough for this and she is now at peak fitness.
She’ll carry 52.5kg which should see Jake Bayliss taking advantage of the postage stamp weight and being positive from the inside barrier.
1 Unit – Chica Mojito (9)
Spanish Treasure (8) had absolutely no luck on debut over 1000m here but still had the audacity to just miss the win.
The Tony Gollan-trained Pierata gelding sat three-wide on speed and was entitled to weaken but kept fighting to finish a nose second.
He’ll strip fitter second-up and the rise in distance will suit.
Angela Jones will make full use of the inside barrier and look to dictate the race.
1 Unit – Spanish Treasure (8)
Vodka Martini (1) returned in great order two starts ago over this course and distance in the Ladbrokes Lightning Quality when finding the line well to win by a nose.
Unfortunately, the Kelly Schweida-trained glamour boy didn’t have much go right at the Sunshine Coast last start where he carried on like a clown behind the barriers and then was caught wide in th run.
He can bounce back third-up returning to Eagle Farm where he has won two of three over this distance.
Corey Sutherland, who claims 3kg, can give stalk what looks like a strong speed from the kind draw.
1 Unit – Vodka Martini (1)
Bindi’s Choice (13) was a touch unlucky in her first race for Tony Gollan when resuming last start over 1200m here.
The Denman mare started to pick up strongly in the final furlong but was disappointed for a run and finished 2.6 lengths fourth, just behind Weigall Tiger who won on Wednesday.
She’ll strip fitter second-up and given how strong through the line she was last start, the rise to 1400m looks ideal.
There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in this Eagle Farm race which should see Angela Jones settle closer in the run.
1 Unit Each Way – Bindi’s Choice (13)
Benzou (2) caught the eye last start over 1000m on Caloundra Cup Day when storming home to finish a neck third.
The Billy Healey-trained gelding will find this a lot easier than that race and will strip fitter given he was six weeks between runs.
He’ll appreciate a return to Eagle Farm where he won over 1000m by 1.8 lengths first-up last preparation before finishing a close second over this distance.
This is the first time he’s drawn a decent barrier in his seven starts, so I would expect Kyle Wilson-Taylor to take advantage of that and settle closer in the run.
2 Units – Benzou (2)
Caspernova (7) was unlucky not to win when resuming last start over 1110m at Doomben when slow away and settling back before storming home to miss the win by a neck.
The Rob Heathcote-trained gelding tried hard last start over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast but couldn’t catch King Yoshi when finishing 1.5 lengths second.
He’ll strip fitter third-up and is undefeated in two previous third-up races which includes last preparation over this course and distance.
Jaden Lloyd can hopefully find a spot just off what looks a decent speed before letting him go in the straight.
1 Unit – Caspernova (7)
