2025 3M Open Preview

The PGA Tour has just two weeks of the regular season remaining with TPC Twin Cities hosting the 3M Open, an event won by Matthew Wolff, Tony Finau and Jhonattan Vegas.

Key Stats/Skill Set Required

  • Putting Average
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Birdie or Better
  • Eagles
  • Strokes Gained: Approach
  • GIR
  • Strokes Gained: Tee To Green
  • Bogey Avoidance

TPC Twin Cities is an Arnold Palmer design where going low is the absolute key.

It is a course where birdies and eagles are needed.

A strong approach game and then an ability to drain putts is the best path to victory.

Key Correlation Courses/Tournaments

  • Detroit Golf Club
  • Bay Hill

BEST BET

JAKE KNAPP ($34)

Jake Knapp has as much upside as anyone in the field and in his current form looks a super bet to claim the 3M Open.

Knapp has eight Top 25s in his last 15 events with three Top 6 finishes.

One of those was at the Rocket Classic three starts back, one of the key correlation tournaments.

Knapp ranks third in Birdie or Better and 12th in Strokes Gained: Putting.

Looks a nice bet at anywhere north of $31.

BEST VALUE

ANDREW PUTNAM ($67)

This is the kind of event Andrew Putnam should love so going again on one of our favourite bets.

He ranks second in Bogey Avoidance, 15th in GIR and 15th in Strokes Gained: Putting.

He finished eighth in the 2025 Rocket Classic and the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

His last two starts here have produced Top 20 finishes.

LEE HODGES ($51)

Lee Hodges won this event in 2023 and can become the first player to win the event twice.

He ranks 10th in Bogey Avoidance, 13th in GIR and 13th in Strokes Gained: Approach.

Hodges has been mixing form a bit of late but does have two Top 21 finishes in his last five starts.

BEST ROUGHIES

SAMI VALIMAKI ($101)

The big Finnish bomber Sami Valimaki profiles tremendously here and is a great roughie in a roughie’s event.

He ranks sixth in Strokes Gained: Putting and 15th in Eagles while he comes into this off a Top 20 in the Rocket Classic.

He is in good form with five Top 20s in his last 11 starts.

TAYLOR MONTGOMERY ($151)

Montgomery is woefully out of form, but this is an event that should suit him.

He ranks second in Strokes Gained: Putting, third in Putting Average and fourth in Birdie or Better.

He is starting to turn his form around with two Top 8s in his last six starts.

Worth a Top 10 or 20 play at big odds.

TOP SOUTH KOREAN

SUNGJAE IM

Four Koreans tee it up this week and happy to side with Sungjae Im as second favourite after a strong Open Championship.

He ranks Top 10 in Putting Average.

TOP AFRICAN

CHRISTIAAN BEZUIDENHOUT

This is a course for putters and Bezuidenhout is the pick of the putters of all the South Africans.

Finished Top 20 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
