Doomben is set for a strong midweek card featuring eight competitive races.
With the rail out 7.5m and fine weather forecast, expect a fair surface and tactical racing especially around the tight turns and short straight.
From QTIS maidens to a deep Benchmark 68, there’s a mix of emerging talent and seasoned runners to assess.
Let’s find a few winners.
SHADWELL LANE (11) impressed on debut over 1000m here last start.
The Jim Mason-trained Wootton Bassett filly struggled to keep up early but found the line strongly to finish a head second.
The way she raced screamed that she needed further and she gets that here.
There looks to be good speed in the race which should see Cejay Graham settle off them before launching late.
11. Shadwell Lane (4) 58kg2
GUARDSMAN (4) returned in great order last start over 1000m here and looks to have matured since a disappointing debut in April.
The Michael Freedman-trained colt recovered from a rough start to hit the line hard to finish 2.1 lengths fourth.
He’ll strip fitter second-up and the rise to 1200m looks ideal.
Ben Thompson is a good booking and will look to go forward in a race with limited speed.
4. Guardsman (8) 58kg8×4
SOME STYLE (6) went within a whisker of winning when resuming last start over 1200m here.
The Tony Gollan-trained mare enjoyed a nice run in the box seat before producing the quickest final 600m of the race to just miss the win.
She’ll strip fitter second-up and gave Princess Stakes winner Philia a good fight last preparation when finishing 1.9 lengths second over this course and distance.
Ben Thompson should be able give his mount the run of the race from the good draw.
6. Some Style (4) 58.5kg322×2
ADRANOS (1) will appreciate the drop back to a Class 1 Plate after a super effort last start over 1100m here.
The Tony Gollan-trained gelding settled a long way back but charged home to finish 2.65 lengths third.
Given the way he stormed through the line, the rise to 1200m looks ideal second-up.
The inside barrier should see Ryan Maloney settle a lot closer to the action.
1. Adranos (1) 60kg413×3
MISS FUNNY MONEY (12) impressed when winning on debut over 1000m at Eagle Farm last start.
The Stu Kendrick-trained filly took strong trial form to her debut where she let down powerfully in the final 100m to win narrowly.
She’ll strip fitter second-up and given the way she ran through the line, she’s crying out for this longer trip.
She’s drawn well for Jake Bayliss so shouldn’t be too far away in the run from the good draw.
NAGAMIE (4) went straight to the front and gave nothing else a chance last start over 1900m at Casino when winning by 2.56 lengths.
The Bevan Laming-trained gelding had been racing in consistent form before that with four consecutive placings.
He jumped up in trip from a mile and given he’s sired by Dundeel, the longer distance here will be to his liking.
Luke Dempsey will roll forward to negate the awkward barrier.
4. Nagamie (9) 59kg23221
AIR WE GO (4) returned in great order four starts ago with a win at the Sunshine Coast and has continued to race well.
The Stu Kendrick-trained gelding has placed in past two starts including last start over 1000m at Eagle Farm where he found the line powerfully to finish 1.2 lengths third.
He’s at peak fitness and won his only previous race over this distance.
Jag Guthmann-Chester should be able to race on speed from the low draw.
4. Air We Go (5) 60.5kgx1423
ROCK THE SUNRISE (6) was taken back from the wide gate when resuming last start over 1200m at Eagle Farm before storming home to finish 2.86 lengths fourth.
The Matt Hoysted-trained gelding will strip fitter and won over 1400m at Grafton when winning her only previous second-up race.
He’s undefeated in two previous starts over this distance which included the above-mentioned Grafton win and a monster 3.86 length win at Eagle Farm last preparation.
Damien Thornton remains in the saddle.
6. Rock The Sunrise (8) 58.5kg112×4
