2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Preview

One of the highlights of the DP World Tour, the Alfred Dunhill Links is a longstanding event that has attracted a sensational field including four winning European Ryder Cup players, a host of stars from the LIV Tour led by Cameron Smith and the cream of the crop from the DP World Tour.

Key Stats/Skill Set Required

  • Birdies
  • Par 4 Scoring
  • Putting Average
  • Strokes Gained: Putting
  • Scrambling
  • Strokes Gained: Around The Green
  • GIR

The Alfred Dunhill Links is an annual tour of some of golf’s grandest courses – St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns – with players playing the three courses before finishing on the Old Course on Sunday.

As it is a pro-am the setup will be easy so looking for those who can go low.

A soft touch around the green is key.

  • Qatar Masters
  • Scottish Open
  • 2024 Irish Open

BEST BET

MARCO PENGE

The four favourites in this all played in the winning Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black and based on the video footage they are all unlikely to be in the best nick this week.

So I’ll be looking lower down the board and Marco Penge rates beautifully.

He finished second at this year’s Scottish Open and 12th at Royal County Down in the Irish Open last year.

Ranks third in Par 4 Scoring, seventh in Birdies, eighth in GIR and ninth in Putting Average.

He is flying with a win in Denmark mid-August that has been followed up with three Top 13 finishes from four starts.

BEST VALUE

HARRY HALL

Cornish fan favourite Harry Hall has played this event just once but finished T-15 and given his current form he will be right in the mix again.

He has finished Top 25 in 12 of his last 14 starts.

Ranks third in Putting Average, sixth in Strokes Gained: Putting and in Birdies, plus eighth in Scrambling.

HAOTONG LI

The Qatar Masters is one of the key correlation events and Haotong Li won that event this year and finished 16th the year prior so is well in the mix.

Li also finished fourth in this year’s Open Championship and he has a great record in this event with four Top 23 finishes from five starts including two Top 7s.

BEST ROUGHIES

ADRIEN SADDIER

There is nobody on the DP World Tour playing better than Frenchman Adrien Saddier.

Saddier won the Italian Open in June and was right in the mix in the European Masters, Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship.

Ranks fifth in Birdies, 10th in Putting Average and 15th in Par 4 Scoring.

JAYDEN SCHAPER

Underrated South African youngster Jayden Schaper is a big price again this week.

Ranks 12th in GIR, 12th in Strokes Gained: Around The Green and 14th in Par 4 Scoring.

Finished fifth in Qatar this year and comes off a ninth in the Open De France.

TOP ASIAN

HAOTONG LI

There are eight Asian players teeing it up this week but Li should be odds-on.

He is one of the top selections and his love of links golf has him a clear top selection.

TOP NORDIC

KRISTOFFER REITAN

Reitan has been playing some elite golf and charges home like few others.

Looks a huge price in this market.
