Wednesday’s Doomben meeting features an eight-race program and conditions should improve through the afternoon with the track expected to keep drying.
Despite that, it is likely to remain in the soft range, providing a surface suitable for all.
The rail is out 11 metres, which typically lends itself to runners settling on speed, so expect those able to hold a forward position to be advantaged.
Time to dive into the preview and find a few winners.
ISLA DELILAH (11) is knocking on the door for a maiden win after placing in each of her past four races.
The Chris & Corey Munce-trained filly raced on speed last start over 2200m at Ipswich and looked beaten in the straight but fought back gamely to finish third by a head.
Blinkers come off for the first time and she’ll carry just 54kg thanks to Ben Osmond’s claim.
The apprentice should be able to cross relatively easily from the wide gate to find a forward position.

RECONCILIATE (11) has mixed her form but if she replicates last start then she can give this a shake.
A strong trial win ahead of last start signaled that the Tony Gollan-trained filly was past two terrible efforts and she backed that up by finding the line strongly over 1110m here despite racing wide to finish just under three lengths second.
She’s rock hard fit and the slight rise in distance looks suitable.
Angela Jones should be able to land in a forward position.
Selections: 11-5-1-3
11. Reconciliate (6) 55.5kgx2002
LARIDAE (4) is racing in great form and looks well placed to go back-to-back.
The Danny Bougoure-trained gelding found the line strongly two starts back over a mile here to finish three-quarters of a length second to the flying The Wheelbarrow.
Last start she clocked the quickest final 600m and 200m closing splits to win over this course and distance.
This race is no harder and he again will carry just 53.5kg after Chelsea Baker’s claim.
Selections: 4-2-6-3
4. Laridae (1) 56.5kg56421
SUPERHERO (3) returned from a 32-week spell in great order last start over 1200m here.
The Annabel & Rob Archibald-trained gelding settled back before rocketing home to finish a lip second.
He’ll strip fitter and will appreciate the rise to this distance which he’s a previous second-up winner over.
While it’s a small field, there’s plenty of speed engaged which should see him play a stalking role before being strong late.
Selections: 3-1-4-7
3. Superhero (3) 58kg241×2
Deary me, this is a tough race to work out, but I’ve landed on Geitz (10) with little confidence.
The Team Sears-trained filly was last start hitting the line hard from a long way back to finish 2.37 lengths second over 1200m at the Gold Coast.
That was her second runner-up finish in three starts.
She’s been finding the line powerfully so the rise in distance suits and given there doesn’t look to be much speed in the race, she may find a prominent position.
Selections: 10-8-2-7
10. Geitz (10) 56kgx4242
CORDINA (5) ran well in her first start for David Vandyke.
The I Am Invincible mare worked to the line strongly over 1200m to finish 3.2 lengths third with jockey Mark Du Plessis suggesting a change of bit would benefit her which has been administered here.
Formerly with Ciaron Maher, she brought winning form with her having won at Nowra over 1400m just two starts ago so the rise in trip will suit.
From the low draw, ‘Two Plus Three’ should be able to settle in a forward position and give her every chance.
Selections: 5-4-6-7
5. Cordina (2) 56.5kg86313
MARUNOUCHI (9) wears the same colours as Antino and just like her star stablemate, she won on debut.
The Tony Gollan-trained filly enjoyed a nice run over 1200m here before letting down strongly to dash clear and win by 3.23 lengths.
She looked to have plenty in the locker so should be able to handle the significant class rise.
Ben Thompson retains the ride and will give her a sweet run from the inside barrier.
Selections: 9-3-4-8
9. Marunouchi (1) 54kg1
TENBURY WELLS (6) had excuses in his first start for the Munce stable.
The son of Fastnet Rock suffered from heat stress but was still able to find the line well from near the tail to finish 4.21 lengths fifth over 1800m at Eagle Farm.
He was also a month between runs, so he will have come on nicely since then.
This is Martin Harley’s only ride on the day and the Irish hoop should be able to give his mount an economical run from the low gate.
Selections: 6-7-3-4
6. Tenbury Wells (2) 57.5kg44495
