Another eight-race program has been set at Sale on Wednesday with further wet weather expected.
The track is already rated a Heavy 9 at time of writing, although the rail remains in the True position throughout.
It looks to be a tough day across the board with wide-open fields accepted in almost every race. For our thoughts on every contest, scroll down to check out our Sale Tips below.
HIT SQUAD (4) strips fitter second-up for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr.
The four-year-old Irish import was far from disgraced when fourth on debut at Kilmore last month, overracing early where he just lacked the fitness and conditioning to hold on for a place.
He was found to hav a slow recovering post-race, but has been givenn nearly a month between runs to bounce back. On a very wet track this time from a much softer gate, he should be running a much-improved race.

| Second-up today. Last start 4th of 12 at Kilmore Mdn-Sw on May 15 over 1612m, slow going 2.75 len behind Don’t Doubt Dare with 59.5kg at $2.70. At only start last preparation sat on the speed and boxed on steadily 2nd of 12 at Kempton Park All Weather Nov Sw on October 22 over 1408m, 2 len behind Conscript with 59kg at $2.60. Profiles well, takes catching. | |||
TISSEYRE (12) resumes off a freshen-up for the Keys Team.
She was forward early and set the tempo at Cranbourne last start over the mile, finding a smart debutant a touch better over the concluding stages on her way to finishing second.
Dropping back to 1400m off a break could be key to her chances and she might have a slight class edge against this lineup after competing at Group 2 level during the spring last year.

| Comes here off a 47-day let-up. At the latest run set the pace for much of the race 2nd in a small field at Cranbourne F&M Mdn-Sw on April 24 over 1600m, 0.8 len behind Zeyno with 57.5kg at $1.60. The run before that 5th of 8 at Sandown-Lakeside Mdn-Sw on April 15 over 1400m, slow going 2.5 len behind Bonus Season carrying 57kg at $7. Should be very hard to beat. | |||
WONBOYN (2) looks one of the hardest to beat off a 12-week spell.
Michael Kent’s three-year-old shed the maiden tag by 3.2 lengths at Yarra Valley in late March, letting down with a tidy finish down the outside after racing four-wide the trip.
He’s been given a trial between runs to keep him sharp and draws to settle in behind the speed nice and early from the low gate.

| Resuming. Not seen since winning to post a big 3.5 len win. Yarra Valley Mdn-Sw March 24 over 1500m slow track defeating Temu Tilly with 59kg at $2.45. On debut second of 10 at Kilmore Mdn-Sw March 6 over 1450m, 0.5 len behind Man Of The Sea carrying 59kg at $4.80. Looks all set for a effective return. | |||
THINKYAHOT (6) has the added benefit of some race day experience compared to a few of the first starters in this field.
The son to So You Think has found the money in three of his four starts without winning to begin his career, resuming to finish runner-up at Echuca a few weeks ago where he was held up badly approaching the final furlong.
He’s drawn awkwardly out wide on Wednesday but has shown he can handle a rain-affected track. Looks to have good improvement to come and it helps knowing Luke Nolen has some experience in the saddle.
| 6. Thinkyahot (9) J: Luke Nolen 59.5kg 522×2T: Peter G Moody & Katherine Coleman | |||
| Second run back. First-up after four months ran on from midfield; 2nd of 9 at Echuca Mdn-Sw on May 23 over 1109m, slow going 1.3 len behind Artbeat with 59.5kg at $2.90. Previously second-up 2nd of 12 at Seymour Mdn-Sw on December 28 over 1300m, 1.3 len behind Tarzing carrying 58kg at $4.20. Progressing nicely and is sure to prove tough to beat. | |||
MAD ABOUT MAGNUS (8) looks ready to take the next step now for the Hayes boys.
This lightly-raced three-year-old jagged her maiden in fine style last month over the track and trip, improving from midfield four-wide to prevail by three-quarters of a length in the end.
Like a few others, he’s untried on wet going, but the inside barrier might help her settle closer to the speed this time and save something for the finish.
| 8. Mad About Magnus (1) J: Damien Thornton 56kg 31T: Ben, Will & Jd Hayes | |||
| Had two starts to date. When well in the market at debut, gave a sight but was run down late 3rd of 7 at this track Mdn-Sw on April 8 over 1006m, 0.9 len behind Cattle Camp carrying 57kg at $1.95. Last start favourite; was well back until straightening; raced back then made ground from the turn; won by 0.8 len at this track 3yo Mdn-Sw May 17 over 1008m defeating Alphabet with 56kg at $1.65. Progressing well and is sure to play a major role again. | |||
PRINCESS MESS (5) just needs to handle the conditions again to earn herself a hat-trick of wins.
The daughter to Puissance de Lune lapped up a similar wet track at Stawell just under a month ago, winning by a decent margin over 1300m thanks to a super ride from Billy Egan.
The pair reunite again here on Wednesday and map to make their own luck up on the speed from the middle gate. Out over slightly further third-up, this girl should be hard to run down.
| 5. Princess Mess (6) J: Billy Egan 59.5kg 83×11T: Patrick Payne | |||
| Third-up today and placed third-up previously. Resuming favourite; won by 1.75 len at Wangaratta Mdn-Sw May 3 over 1300m on a soft track defeating Hopeless Romantic carrying 57.5kg at $4.60. Second run from a spell favourite; won by 1.75 len at Stawell Bm56 May 18 over 1300m in the wet defeating Triomphe carrying 60.5kg at $1.80. No reason she can’t win again. | |||
Hard to go past SULEK (4) dropping back a level after competing at Flemington last time out.
Dom Sutton’s gelding got back around midfield and never really improved on his position, working home only fairly to run sixth in the end.
He was a smart place-getter the run prior at Listed level in the Bendigo Guineas however, and does arrive in peak condition on Wednesday with three runs under his belt. He’ll need to handle the extra weight, but this does rate a nice race for him to prove himself.
| 4. Sulek (2) J: Craig Williams 60.5kg 7×436T: Dominic Sutton | |||
| Most recently 6th of 11 at Flemington 3yo Hcp on May 16 over 1400m, 4.5 len behind Concord Connie with 56.5kg at $13. The start before that 3rd of 11 at Bendigo in the LR Bdgo Guineas on May 2 over 1400m, 0.5 len behind Gold Coast Belle with 57kg at $31. An inside barrier is a big advantage. Very well suited here. | |||
BRILLIANTEZZA (10) is worth sticking with.
Patrick Payne’s mare was a two-length winner on debut at Wangaratta in early May before heading to Pakenham, where a slow getaway cost her in the end when beaten 2.6 lengths over the mile.
She was seen doing her best work late mind you, and it’s fair to say the inside gate probably wasn’t to her advantage.
Rock hard fit now and given a few weeks between run, this sets up nicely for her over 1700m with a bit more running room afforded from barrier five.
| 10. Brillantezza (5) J: Billy Egan 58kg 15T: Patrick Payne | |||
| Had two starts to date. When well in the market at debut, favourite; won by 2 len at Wangaratta Mdn-Sw May 3 over 1590m on a soft track defeating It Matters carrying 57.5kg at $2.35. Second-up 5th of 12 at Pakenham Bm62 Hcp on May 22 over 1600m, on a slow track; 2.75 len behind Pearl King with 58.5kg at $3.30. Useful type and worth another chance. | |||
