Start the week right at The Triangle, with Redcliffe expert Oli Cownie breaking down Monday night’s nine-race card.
TILLY JAYNE (5) had a very tough run last time out wide on the track in a race taken out by Majorita Jujon. She looks well placed again in this race and if she was able to work forward and find the lead she would likely be very hard to run down.
BEYOND DOUBT (7) put in a huge run last time out when sitting without cover at this track when beating A Perfect Dance who had the perfect run on his back. He draws awkwardly in this race and may need luck at the right time.
GREAT ACHIEVER (8) has changed stables and lands in the stable of Alanah Richardson for this race. He got a good run off the speed last time out and wasn’t beaten far by Beachride who rated good time out in front when winning.
HELL IM SMOOTH (1) secured a good run on the pegs last time out and was able to force into the clear at the right time before flashing home into second behind Western Arterra. He should get a good run from a good draw.
SELECTIONS: TILLY JAYNE (5), BEYOND DOUBT (7), GREAT ACHIEVER (8), HELL IM SMOOTH (1)
SUGGESTED BET: GREAT ACHIEVER (8) each way.
| 8. Great Achiever (2) J: Adam Richardson 80036T: Alanah Richardson | |||
| Last start 6th (Fr2) over 1780m at this track beaten 5.5 m by Beachride (2:06.70) in 3yo+ on July 22 at $13. Before that, a good run when 3rd (Fr6) over 2138m after showing early speed at Albion Park, beaten 11 m by Kick The Switch (2:32.80) on July 16 at $31. Forward performance expected. | |||
LUKA DONCIC (8) looks one of the class runners of the field having taken on some stronger races in recent outings at Albion Park. He got back in the run last time out and was running on late into fourth behind Bettor Cheer who has since won again.
ONE LAST ROLL (1) has good gate speed and should be able to drive through and lead. He was able to lead recently at this track and was run down late by Ascot Annie. He had no luck last time out when copping a flat tyre which contributed to his beaten margin. He can bounce back.
ROLLING BONUS (7) should get a good run through in this race behind the likely leader in the race ONE LAST ROLL (1). Raced without luck last time out at Marburg when checked by Lulu Lucifer which had its cart break apart in the home straight. He should run well.
ABSOLUTELY STOKED (9) was able to score a good first up win last time out at Marburg when racing behind the leader before pulling out and sprinting best to score. She draws worse this time in a race that does look a touch tougher but she is likely to be fitter for her first up outing.
SELECTIONS: LUKA DONCIC (8), ONE LAST ROLL (1), ROLLING BONUS (7), ABSOLUTELY STOKED (9)
SUGGESTED BET: ROLLING BONUS (7) to win.
| 7. Rolling Bonus (1) J: Adam Richardson 48547T: Dan Russell | |||
| Last start was driven from back in the field when 7th (Fr4) over 1850m after being wide early at Marburg beaten 45 m by Hes Regal (2:16.10) in 3yo+ on July 26 at $3.40. Before that, was well back in the run when 4th (Fr4) over 2040m at this track, beaten 10 m by Rosies Boy (2:33.30) in 3yo+ on July 20 at $21. Watch for a spike in form. | |||
CANDYKANE (2) has good early speed and should be able to work to the lead past a horse which generally likes to take a trail in her races. She was able to lead three starts ago at Albion Park and although she was unplaced she ran a quick enough personal mile rate to suggest she’d be hard to beat in a race of this nature.
TAKE COURAGE (1) should settle close in the run from an ideal draw. She showed gate speed to lead before landing the leaders back trail three starts ago and was able to score a nice win. She should get every chance to run another good race with a similar trip.
ROLLYARRRZ (4) got back two runs ago from a wide draw and was running on strongly late into third behind Erasmus and Its Back Page News. He finds a much easier race and should settle close enough in the run to be right in the finish.
THREENTWO (5) comes into this race third up from a spell and should be nearing peak fitness in this race. She has been able to lead in her two first and second up outings when running good second placings to Major Orion and Champagne Walsh. She may not be able to lead this time which could make things tougher.
SELECTIONS: CANDYKANE (2), TAKE COURAGE (1), ROLLYARRRZ (4), THREENTWO (5)
SUGGESTED BET: CANDYKANE (2) to win.
| 2. Candykane (2) J: Jack Chapple 49584T: Gail Geeson | |||
| Last start 4th (Fr2) over 1780m after showing early speed at this track beaten 7 m by Mister Delwin (2:12.00) in 3yo+ on July 15 at $9.50. Before that, 8th (Fr3) over 2138m at Albion Park beaten 19 m by Amillionchances (2:35.50) in 3yo+ on July 7 at $21. Coming good it seems so worth following up. | |||
WICKED MACK (3) has very good early speed and should be able to zip across and lead in the early stages of this race. He was able to lead five starts ago at Marburg and was only run down very late by Tiger Shirl who is a handy enough horse.
WEE BONNIE (2) was shuffled back last time out at Marburg before running on fairly late in behind Son Of Doc. She should settle close enough in this race from a good draw and looks to find one of the most suitable races she has found in some time.
BOKHARI (7) looks to draw awkwardly inside the back row behind a horse which is struggling a touch for form at the moment. She has got back in the run in her two latest outings and run on just fairly late. She is likely to be fitter for her two outing and should run well in this race.
KIWI ROYALTY (5) has struggled in recent outings finishing ninth three runs in a row. She does appear to find a more suitable race and with the right run she could potentially bounce back into form.
SELECTIONS: WICKED MACK (3), WEE BONNIE (2), BOKHARI (7), KIWI ROYALTY (5)
SUGGESTED BET: WICKED MACK (3) to win.
| 3. Wicked Mack (3) J: Anthony Gorman 29998T: John Mcmullen | |||
| Last start 8th (Sr4) over 1850m at Marburg beaten 12 m by Son Of Doc (2:16.80) on July 26 at $71. Before that, was well back in the run when 9th (Fr4) over 1780m after racing wide at this track, beaten 50 m by Champagne Walsh (2:11.10) on July 20 at $151. Closer draw this time so worth another chance. | |||
ART JESTER (1) should have the gate speed to lead in this race. He has led and won the last three times he has led in races. He got shuffled back last time out from a poor draw at Marburg and was running on strongly late. He looks hard to beat.
DOCTA FEELGOOD (7) is a significantly better horse when able to find the pegs in races and can struggle to run on out wide on the track at times. Should get a good run on the pegs in this race behind the potential leader and can bounce back into some better form.
JEFFCOATE (2) was able to secure a good run 3 back on the pegs last time out in a stronger race which was taken out by Dragon. He should find this race a lot easier than his recent outings and should settle close from a good draw.
NAUTIE GALVINATOR (8) sat leaders back last time out behind Bizzie Lizzie at Redcliffe and didn’t seemingly go to his absolute best when fading into fourth late. He should secure a good run off the speed this time and may be suited by the step back to the 1780.
SELECTIONS: ART JESTER (1), DOCTA FEELGOOD (7), JEFFCOATE (2), NAUTIE GALVINATOR (8)
SUGGESTED BET: ART JESTER (1) to win.

| Fair run when beaten by 5.5 m finishing fourth behind At The Pointy End at Marburg over 1850m in a 3yo+ on July 26 at $15. Then a handy effort when beaten by 5.5 m finishing third behind Ucancallme Al at this track over 2040m in a 3yo+ on July 31 at $3.60. Finished a game third here last start. | |||
GRACENAVA (2) has good early speed and may be able to work her way to the lead in this race. She drew outside the back row last start and wasn’t able to get into the race there at Marburg at a track where it can be difficult to run on at.
CHEDDAR MADE BETA (7) comes into this race first up for a new stable. He trialled up moderately at Marburg when finishing fourth over a month ago behind Charlie My Boy. On his best efforts he would be hard to beat in a race of this nature.
JIMMY JOYCE (3) has early speed and should be able to press forward and find a prominent position early. He was able to show good gate speed four starts ago when leading all the way beating Erasmus at Albion Park.
IDEAL TIGER (6) looks well graded in this race. Drew the back three starts ago and was running on nicely into second behind Lulu Lucifer at Marburg. He draws poorly in this race and may need some luck in running.
SELECTIONS: GRACENAVA (2), CHEDDAR MADE BETA (7), JIMMY JOYCE (3), IDEAL TIGER (6)
SUGGESTED BET: GRACENAVA (2) to win.

| Capable of better than we have seen lately. Last start 8th (Sr3) over 2200m at Marburg, beaten 20 m by Gotta Dream (2:44.70) in 3yo+ on July 26 at $21. At the previous start 8th (Fr5) over 1780m at this track, beaten 30 m by Turbo Tommy (2:10.40) in 3yo+ on July 20 at $23. Finds the right race this time. | |||
DIAMANTINA DAISY (9) took on a much stronger race last time out which was taken out by Ruggards Gee Tee at Albion Park in fast time. She comes into this race third up from a spell and is likely to be nearing peak fitness. She should be hard to beat dropping back in grade.
DESIGNER JEWEL (8) drew poorly last time out and was running into it well when finishing fifth behind Toro Loco. She draws to settle a bit closer this time and should appreciate what appears a slight drop back in grade.
WINDY HILL WHISKEY (2) has drawn well in this race and may be able to press to the lead early. She had no luck last time out at Marburg when drawing poorly before being shuffled back and was able to run on late behind Son of Doc.
FLUTTERING ANGEL (6) drew poorly on debut for the stable of Lola Weidemann last time out when doing plenty of work before battling on well for fifth behind Champagne Walsh. She is likely to have derived good benefit from the outing and should run well with the right run in the race.
SELECTIONS: DIAMANTINA DAISY (9), DESIGNER JEWEL (8), WINDY HILL WHISKEY (2), FLUTTERING ANGEL (6)
SUGGESTED BET: DESIGNER JEWEL (8) to win.
| 8. Designer Jewel (2) J: Brendan Barnes 65575T: Gemma Hewitt | |||
| Last start 5th (Sr3) over 1780m at this track beaten 12 m by Toro Loco (2:12.00) in 3yo+ on July 17 at $16. At the start before 7th (Sr1) over 2040m at this track beaten 30 m by Ourbeachgirlmaywyn (2:29.00) in 3yo+ on July 9 at $51. Capable of going a lot better. | |||
TONJAY (7) comes into this first up from a spell after trialled up well behind Hunt For Glory when leading and running fourth. He draws awkwardly inside the back row and will need a few things to go his way in the run.
ONEANDONLY (3) ran a good third two starts ago at Albion Park behind Thats Classic before heading for a spell and returned well last start when racing without luck. He draws well and should be hard to beat in this race.
MACKLEMORE CHEX (4) showed promise last season when running a number of good races in better company. He has seemingly struggled to find his better form this campaign and hasn’t run a placing so far in six outings. He did run a slightly better race two starts ago when battling on fairly for sixth.
SERENUS (9) took on a much stronger race last time out at Albion Park when drawing wide and getting back when well beaten by Beachbabe Crocker. She finds a much more suitable race here and draws to do no work early.
SELECTIONS: TONJAY (7), ONEANDONLY (3), MACKLEMORE CHEX (4), SERENUS (9)
SUGGESTED BET: MACKLEMORE CHEX (4) to win.
| 4. Mackelmore Chex (4) J: Peter Greig 68960T: Peter Greig | |||
| Didn’t do much last start, 10th (Sr1) over 2138m at Albion Park, beaten 22 m by Kash Fund (2:35.70) on July 23 at $101. Before that 6th (Fr1) over 1660m after showing early speed at Albion Park, beaten 14 m by Boulevard Bart (1:58.30) in 3yo+ on July 7 at $41. Has the job ahead. | |||
STRAWBERRIESNCREAM (7) secured a good run on the pegs last time out and was able to run well finishing the race off into fifth behind Gems Magic. She follows out a horse which is likely to be keen to hold a forward position.
MCROCKIN (1) ran well two starts ago when being shuffled back early before running on strongly late into second behind Free Delivery. He has reasonable early speed and may be able to drive through and lead this race in the early stages.
MOREFUNTOCOME (5) has shown reasonable ability in maidens in NSW and looks likely to play a part on QLD debut. She got back in the run last time out and couldn’t get into the race behind Detangled.
BOSTON FIRE (2) ran well two starts ago when getting back and finishing it off strongly into second behind Orion Art. He should secure a good run from a favourable draw in this race and should run well again.
SELECTIONS: STRAWBERRIESNCREAM (7), MCROCKIN (1), MOREFUNTOCOME (5), BOSTON FIRE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MCROCKIN (1) to win.

| Fair performance when beaten by 3.5 m finishing third after being driven well back, behind Wicked Victree at this track over 1780m on July 20 at $1.90. Then a handy effort when beaten by 7 m finishing third behind Tequilasunrise at this track over 1780m on July 31 at $19. Nicely drawn and expected to measure up again. | |||
