From old marvel Mr Brightside back as a nine-year-old looking to go one better than his second in this event the past two years, to the returning Memsie Stakes winning mare Treasurethe Moment who put 2.5 lengths on them fresh 12 months ago, there’s plenty to get excited about.
Jimmysstar is the current Memsie Stakes favourite out to break a notable winning drought, while Cosmic Crusader is the fit flyer chasing his third straight victory at the track this prep.

2026 Winx Stakes Best Bets
TREASURETHE MOMENT (6) is a beautiful Matt Laurie-trained mare who kicks off what is sure to be another consistent campaign with a Memsie Stakes title defence.
She was far from disgraced seeing out her autumn prep with a third to Idle Flyer in Sydney’s Queen of the Turf over the mile. Prior to that she was here at Caulfield saluting by two lengths as the odds-on favourite in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes.
Last year’s Cox Plate third placegetter doesn’t know how to run a bad race. She’s got form around the best, which she’ll need here, but is a genuine 1400m specialist (4:3-0-1), who usually shows up well fresh (5:2-2-1) including her 2.5 length romp home over Mr B in last year’s Memsie.
Well proven at the track, she’s a four-time Caulfield winner from six starts and is yet to run out of the money here.
Her trial form has only been average, but I’m not worried. She’s a triple elite level winner and has become something of a marvel over these middle-distance features considering she was a VRC Oaks champ as a filly.
Damian Lane knows her so well, she maps beautifully and from the front she’ll take some chasing down.
Verdict: A ruthless Caulfield specialist who never runs a bad race —should strike first and defend her Memsie crown with trademark fresh‑leg brilliance.

COSMIC CRUSADER (11) and Willie Pike have the fitness edge chasing a third straight win here at Caulfield.
Last year’s Group 1 Northerly Stakes champ has been outstanding in Melbourne for Andrea Leek this prep going back-to-back with quality wins in the Group 3 Bletchingly by 2.5 lengths and Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes at his latest making up ground from midfield.
Keeps at the same track and trip for this tougher assignment and has suffered a bit of a blow barrier-wise, but he’s going too good for mine to ignore.
Fit third-up, his late sectionals in the Lawrence were impressive, and if he can land closer, he’ll be there when it counts.
Verdict: Flying third‑up and armed with booming late sectionals – shapes as the each way danger who can surge into the finish if he lands a spot closer from the draw.

MR BRIGHTSIDE (9) is the old marvel who I cannot wait to see return. The veteran nine-year-old has his 49th start on Saturday and is out to add to his strong first-up record (10:3-4-1).
Loves Caulfield (12:6-5-0) and the 1400m fresh is ideal for this nearly $19 million earner. He’s a 10-time Group 1 hero including his own Memsie trophy from back in 2023 and an All-Star Mile which has been upgraded since he took it out.
Has been second past the past in the last two editions of this race and continues to defy father time. His spring last year was typically excellent for a horse of his age, and it’s really exciting to see him come back.
Hasn’t raced since a fifth in the Champions Mile when found out by a Heavy track, but he was strong in a recent Heath trial finishing second over Giga Kick.
Craig Williams reunites and is another old boy in flying form.
