LION HUNT (2) returns to action in a winnable race at Hawkesbury today.
The Palace Pier gelding has only made one appearance at the races so far but finished off well for third, beaten half a length over 1300m back in June.
With the benefit of a couple of recent trials under his belt, he can hit the ground running today.

This looks to be one of the more open races on today’s Hawkesbury program, and THE PROSPECT (4) is one that rates as a key chance in my opinion at nice odds ($8 at publish).
The Prospect finished off the pace at Newcastle when resuming last month but took plenty of improvement into a decisive victory to break his maiden at Muswellbrook last time out.
Having only just missed at his only other start here at Hawkesbury, he’s open to further improvement this week, and something like this looks the next logical target for him.

Resuming ran last of 8 in a Mid Mdn-Sw at Beaumont (Newcastle) on August 25 over 1350m, on a slow track; 6 len behind Yvonne’s Joy carrying 59kg at $10. Last start favourite; won by 1.75 len in a Mdn-Sw at Muswellbrook on September 8 over 1500m defeating Linda’s Princess with 59kg at $2.70. Slim place prospect. | |||
PREFER DIAMONDS (8) gets her chance to win today at Hawkesbury.
Prefer Diamonds has continued to improve with racing recently and has filled the minors of similar races at each of her last two starts.
In peak order today, Winona Costin can find a nice position in the run before calling for an extra effort.

| Recent form sound. At the latest run held ground to the line 3rd of 7 in a Bm64 at this track on September 10 over 2000m, 2.5 len behind Fay’s Angels with 57.5kg at $2.60. The race before that made some head-way from midfield; 3rd of 12 in a Midway Bm72(70) at Rosehill on August 29 over 1800m, slow going neck behind Proxima Dea with 53kg at $51. Blinkers come off and doesn’t have to improve much to win this. | |||
FLIGHT OF POWER (6) takes winning form into another nice race at Hawkesbury today.
The Wild Ruler gelding finished midfield on debut over 1000m in March and was immediately put away, while he returned to action with a vastly improved performance to break his maiden here.
Proven under the Hawkesbury conditions, he’s got plenty of upside and can go on with it.

| Second-up. First start raced on the speed and boxed on steadily 5th of 11 in a 2yo Hcp at Muswellbrook on March 8 over 1000m, 4.5 len behind Drumfire with 58kg at $3.50. Returned from break ran on from midfield and won by 0.7 len in a Super 3yo Mdn at this track on September 5 over 1000m defeating Czech Me carrying 58kg at $3.50. Back in great shape and will take stopping again. | |||
