Daily Racing Tips – Pinker Pinker Night

Check out our Friday Racing Tips for October 9th below, featuring Cranbourne Best Bets and our 2026 Pinker Pinker Plate Tips!

Cranbourne: Race 1
No. 8 Cab Franc

I’m keen to be with CAB FRANC (1) second up in the first on Pinker Pinker Night.

Cab Franc turned in some decent trial performances prior to debuting and worked home fairly over 1100m on the Caulfield Heath last month.

With natural improvement this afternoon, options in the run from the rails draw and Jabez Johnstone’s claim, I think he gets plenty of ticks.

Was well-supported at debut, 5th of 8 in a 3yo C&G Mdn-Sw at Caulfield Heath on September 16 over 1100m, 4 len behind Inner Gold with 58kg at $3.70. Improver who looks ideally placed here. Should relish the rise in trip and go close.

Cranbourne: Race 4
No. 9 Ghana’s Akan
Tip of The Day

GHANA’S AKAN (3) gets a great opportunity to break her maiden at Cranbourne tonight.

She’s undoubtedly one of the better credentialled maidens going around in Australia, having turned in plenty of high-quality performances in black type company since debuting.

She’s a fit horse having already had four starts this time, she’s drawn and weighted well and will take a power of beating.

Most recently got back early 8th of 11 in the G3 Scarborough Stakes at Caulfield on September 27 over 1200m, 4 len behind Over The Bridge with 56kg at $9. The start before that held ground to the line 2nd of 11 in the LR Atlantic Jewel Stakes at Sandown-Hillside on September 5 over 1300m, on a slow track; 4 len behind Pretty Baby with 56kg at $3.90. Very well suited back in grade and can get the job done.

Cranbourne: Race 5
No. 8 Egerton

There’s a case to be made for a few of them in this contest, but I thought that EGERTON (7) was well placed.

Egerton finished on the placegetters’ heels, beaten a little over two lengths at Sandown when resuming and was last seen finishing off the pace in Saturday metro company at Mornington.

Fitter third-up and in a weaker race, she’s been competitive here at Cranbourne previously and can fight out the finish again.

Third-up today and won third-up in the past. First-up 4th of 8 in a F&M Bm70 at Sandown-Hillside on September 9 over 1000m, slow going 2.25 len behind Gina’s A Star carrying 58.5kg at $14. Second-up ran second last of 7 in a Mares Bm78 at Mornington on September 26 over 1200m, on a slow track; 3 len behind Per Sempre carrying 54kg at $41. Can improve again and take holding out.

Cranbourne: Race 8
No. 2 Ocean Bay

OCEAN BAY (8) is the one for me in tonight’s Pinker Pinker Plate field.

Ocean Bay returned to action for three-consecutive victories as the bar was raised, while she was last seen finishing second behind Pariah Pearl here at Cranbourne.

In peak order tonight, she meets that horse far better at the weights and this is an ideal feature race for her.

Recent form sound. Most recently held ground to the line 2nd of 7 in a F&M Bm74 at this track on September 25 over 2025m, 2.5 len behind Pariah Pearl with 60kg at $3. The start before that ran on from midfield and won by 1.3 len in a Mares Bm74 at Sandown-Hillside on September 5 over 1600m on a soft track defeating Jenni Gone Bonkers carrying 57kg at $9. Can bounce back to winning form.
