2026 Might and Power Stakes Field, Barrier Draw & Form

The Might and Power Stakes is a Group 1 race at Caulfield on Saturday, where only six runners have paid up.

Might and Power Stakes odds have Sheza Alibi at skinny odds to win, and she is the runner to beat.

In a field of six, barrier draws don’t make too much of a difference, especially over 2000m.

Sheza Alibi gets barrier 6, so she has drawn the widest, but it’s not going to make a difference. She will sit just behind the pace, and look to put the field away at the top of the straight.

Birdman received barrier 2, and he might try to lead and give Sheza Alibi something to chase.

Might and Power Stakes Form Guide 2026

#1 Birdman

BIRDMAN (2) is the biggest threat to the favourite, but he needs a good ride for Ben Melham. He comes off a big Group 1 win in the Underwood Stakes, and he’s a quality horse in his own right. However, we feel in order to beat Sheza Alibi, Melham might need to take a risk. There is no speed in this race, so he could settle on the speed and look to kick clear around the turn. That’s his best chance to win, because he won’t outsprint the favourite.

#2 Land Legend

The Ciaron Maher-trained LAND LEGEND (1) is simply having a run in preparation for the Caulfield Cup. He has two duck eggs beside his name this season, and there is nothing to write home about his form. He’ll need to improve to be a chance in the Caulfield Cup as well, so the odds are warranted.

#3 Torranzino

TORRANINO (4) might need a 10-length head start to beat this field. He’s not looking to win second-up over 2000m, and his fresh performance wasn’t good. He’s paying triple-figure odds, and he’ll be beaten at the turn.

#4 Kingswood

It’s hard to find negatives with KINGSWOOD (5). His first-up win was excellent, and he put away a tidy field with that effort. He wasn’t far away when running fourth last time out, and we wouldn’t rule him out. There has been solid betting support for him, and he’s a genuine trifecta hope with Might and Power Stakes predictions.

#5 Treasurethe Moment

TREASURETHE MOMENT (3) is an interesting runner. She is versatile, and we liked the ground she made from the back of the field behind Pride of Jenni last start in the Feehan Stakes. We wouldn’t be surprised to see her take up the running, as she has done in the past, and she’s tough enough to battle on gamely for a placing. Can she win? Unlikely, but she will loom to win at some point.

#6 Sheza Alibi

SHEZA ALIBI (6) is he odds-on favourite and rightfully so. She is the runner everyone on track wants to see on Saturday, and she could be a superstar. The Ladbrokes Cox Plate awaits her, and if she can beat this field handsomely, she’ll be tough to beat later this month. Her explosive turn-of-foot is Winx-like, and she’s still maturing. The odds are short, but she is clearly the horse to beat.
